Principal’s Message
I hope that everyone is proud of the gains their son/daughter has made during the 2010-2011 school year. It is important that
we encourage students to do their very best in all their classes. Determination, hard work, and persistence will pay huge
dividends for their future.
We want to encourage parents to contact us at anytime if they have concerns. We strive to be open to new suggestions and
want to provide the best middle school experience for all of our students.
We are all very excited about several family events occurring in December. The Holiday Traditions Around The World Family
Academy will be held on December 7 th with lots of entertainment and cultural sharing. We are always very proud to hold these
special events for our families.

Eighth Grade News
Dixie Carter, 8th grade Guidance
Counselor, will be available on Tuesday,
December 7, 2010, from 5:00 until 6:30
p.m. to share information to parents
interested in learning more about
FACTS.org and their 8th grader's ePEP.
This useful tool is helpful in planning
what courses to take in high school.
There is a brief explanation about
FACTS.org on Ravenspace that parents
can view at their convenience.
Drama News
Congratulations to Mrs. Chase's 1st period
Drama Students who placed first in the
District Recycling Contest. Samantha
Moore's video "The Demon Trash Can"
won 2nd place and $100. "Recycle" by
Wade Daniels, Blake Deuell, Chris
McMahon, Alex Minnick, Tommy Nguyen
and Jimmy Walker won 3rd place and $50.
Some of the money won will be provided
to the students via gift cards and the
remainder will be utilized by the Drama
program. The videos are available to view
on the District Website at http://
www.pasco.k12.fl.us/recycle/efforts/
contests/
Recycling News
All newspaper, cereal boxes, phonebooks,
gift wrap, and cardboard may be recycled
in the GreenFiber bin located outside,
behind the cafeteria, during the week
between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00
p.m.
Giving Tree
The Assist, Believe, and Care (ABC)
Program at Rushe Middle School assists
needy students by providing school
supplies, donating food during the
holiday season and providing clothing or
other gifts in December. We have a
“giving tree” located in Rushe’s front
office. If your family is interested in
helping a Rushe student this holiday
season, please visit Rushe’s front office
or contact Teresa Reifer at 346-1200.

Food Drive
The Pasco Sheriff’s Office will collect
non-perishable food items to help feed
over 1000 families this holiday season.
Students who are able to donate should
turn in food items to the grade level
boxes located in the Atrium. The team
that collects the most food items will
receive a school dance on January 14,
20l0. Collection will end on December
13, 2010.
Great American Teach In
Charles S. Rushe Middle School had their
4 th Annual Great American Teach-In on
November 18, 2010. It was a very
successful day. We would like to thank all
the community organizations, businesses,
and parents for volunteering their time to
come in to school to talk with our
students.

Holiday Traditions From Around
the World
The Social Studies Department is thrilled
to present their second annual Holiday
Traditions Around the World Family
Academy Night on Tuesday, December 7,
2010, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Please join us
for a funfilled evening featuring music
from the Seven Springs Steel Drum Band,
the Wolgramm Polynesian Group, bagpiers
by Mr. Fritz, and banjo by our very own
Mr. Gilliam. Authentic ethnic holiday food
favorites will be available for sampling, as
well as snacks will be sold, and student
projects depicting holiday traditions from
around the world will be on display. We
look forward to seeing you as we celebrate
the many cultures of our Rushe School
Family.
