Principal’s Message<br />

I hope that everyone is proud of the gains their son/daughter has made during the 20<strong>10</strong>-2011 school year. It is important that<br />

we encourage students to do their very best in all their classes. Determination, hard work, and persistence will pay huge<br />

dividends for their future.<br />

We want to encourage parents to contact us at anytime if they have concerns. We strive to be open to new suggestions and<br />

want to provide the best middle school experience for all of our students.<br />

We are all very excited about several family events occurring in <strong>December</strong>. The Holiday Traditions Around The World Family<br />

Academy will be held on <strong>December</strong> 7 th with lots of entertainment and cultural sharing. We are always very proud to hold these<br />

special events for our families.<br />

Eighth Grade News<br />

Dixie Carter, 8th grade Guidance<br />

Counselor, will be available on Tuesday,<br />

<strong>December</strong> 7, 20<strong>10</strong>, from 5:00 until 6:30<br />

p.m. to share information to parents<br />

interested in learning more about<br />

FACTS.org and their 8th grader's ePEP.<br />

This useful tool is helpful in planning<br />

what courses to take in high school.<br />

There is a brief explanation about<br />

FACTS.org on Ravenspace that parents<br />

can view at their convenience.<br />

Drama News<br />

Congratulations to Mrs. Chase's 1st period<br />

Drama Students who placed first in the<br />

District Recycling Contest. Samantha<br />

Moore's video "The Demon Trash Can"<br />

won 2nd place and $<strong>10</strong>0. "Recycle" by<br />

Wade Daniels, Blake Deuell, Chris<br />

McMahon, Alex Minnick, Tommy Nguyen<br />

and Jimmy Walker won 3rd place and $50.<br />

Some of the money won will be provided<br />

to the students via gift cards and the<br />

remainder will be utilized by the Drama<br />

program. The videos are available to view<br />

Recycling News<br />

All newspaper, cereal boxes, phonebooks,<br />

gift wrap, and cardboard may be recycled<br />

in the GreenFiber bin located outside,<br />

behind the cafeteria, during the week<br />

between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00<br />

p.m.<br />

Giving Tree<br />

The Assist, Believe, and Care (ABC)<br />

Program at <strong>Rushe</strong> <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>School</strong> assists<br />

needy students by providing school<br />

supplies, donating food during the<br />

holiday season and providing clothing or<br />

other gifts in <strong>December</strong>. We have a<br />

“giving tree” located in <strong>Rushe</strong>’s front<br />

office. If your family is interested in<br />

helping a <strong>Rushe</strong> student this holiday<br />

season, please visit <strong>Rushe</strong>’s front office<br />

or contact Teresa Reifer at 346-1200.<br />

Food Drive<br />

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office will collect<br />

non-perishable food items to help feed<br />

over <strong>10</strong>00 families this holiday season.<br />

Students who are able to donate should<br />

turn in food items to the grade level<br />

boxes located in the Atrium. The team<br />

that collects the most food items will<br />

receive a school dance on January 14,<br />

20l0. Collection will end on <strong>December</strong><br />

13, 20<strong>10</strong>.<br />

Great American Teach In<br />

<strong>Charles</strong> S. <strong>Rushe</strong> <strong>Middle</strong> <strong>School</strong> had their<br />

4 th Annual Great American Teach-In on<br />

November 18, 20<strong>10</strong>. It was a very<br />

successful day. We would like to thank all<br />

the community organizations, businesses,<br />

and parents for volunteering their time to<br />

come in to school to talk with our<br />

students.<br />

Holiday Traditions From Around<br />

the World<br />

The Social Studies Department is thrilled<br />

to present their second annual Holiday<br />

Traditions Around the World Family<br />

Academy Night on Tuesday, <strong>December</strong> 7,<br />

20<strong>10</strong>, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Please join us<br />

for a funfilled evening featuring music<br />

from the Seven Springs Steel Drum Band,<br />

the Wolgramm Polynesian Group, bagpiers<br />

by Mr. Fritz, and banjo by our very own<br />

Mr. Gilliam. Authentic ethnic holiday food<br />

favorites will be available for sampling, as<br />

well as snacks will be sold, and student<br />

projects depicting holiday traditions from<br />

around the world will be on display. We<br />

look forward to seeing you as we celebrate<br />

the many cultures of our <strong>Rushe</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />
