Mandatory:<br />
• PhD <strong>in</strong> relevant discipl<strong>in</strong>e<br />
• International reputation as a lead<strong>in</strong>g figure <strong>in</strong> the area of <strong>Intelligent</strong> <strong>Energy</strong> <strong>Systems</strong> <strong>in</strong> research, scholarship<br />
and <strong>in</strong>novation<br />
• A commitment to high-quality university-level teach<strong>in</strong>g, learn<strong>in</strong>g and student support<br />
• Deep technical knowledge of the electricity grid and development of “Smart Grid”<br />
• Track record <strong>in</strong> lead<strong>in</strong>g large-scale <strong>in</strong>ternational research projects<br />
• Excellent ties to research groups worldwide and up-to-date <strong>in</strong>frastructure and resources<br />
• Strong leadership skills and well established experience <strong>in</strong> work<strong>in</strong>g and collaborat<strong>in</strong>g with multi teams,<br />
colleagues and peers, nationally and <strong>in</strong>ternationally<br />
• Track record <strong>in</strong> w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g competitive grant fund<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> grow<strong>in</strong>g and manag<strong>in</strong>g world-lead<strong>in</strong>g research activity<br />
and research-driven <strong>in</strong>novation<br />
• Ability to motivate people and provide leadership to develop the culture of the energy research community at<br />
UCD and to build the external profile of the <strong>Energy</strong> Institute<br />
• High level of communication and <strong>in</strong>terpersonal skills and a high level of success <strong>in</strong> br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g diverse teams<br />
together that work effectively<br />
Desirable:<br />
• University level teach<strong>in</strong>g experience<br />
• Membership of relevant professional bodies<br />
• Leadership role <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational organisations, technical/scientific committees for <strong>in</strong>ternational conferences<br />
etc.
