Fall Foliage Weekend in Tyler, Texas
The year is almost over and I hope all of you had a fun time and got out of the
club what you expected. This coming year will continue to be filled with fun, adventurous
events, lunch runs, car shows and social gatherings. Big thanks to all
the members participating in the Fall Show and those of you volunteering during
setup, registration, troop care packaging and break down. It would not have been
a success without you. Also, big thanks to Roger & Jeanette for organizing the
Fall Foliage again. I believe we had 29 cars that weekend. The roads, food,
games and entertainment was a blast. LouAnn & Allen Nichols will be hosting
the Annual New Years Eve Party at their warehouse in Conroe. It’s all finished
and ready to go. I will be sending an Evite out with details and rsvp. Next month
is the Bandit Run III hosted by Jeb & Lori Jonas and this is one not to miss. Please
read the write-up and contact Jeb to rsvp so he can arrange head count for restaurant.
I’d like to welcome new board members Bob Romsland, John Cox and Patty
Natole to the board and when you see them give them a congrats. We will have
the first board meeting on Jan 1st at 6:30pm at Rudy’s BBQ
off I-45 & Louetta Rd to plan out the next few months of
events and activities. This is open to all club members. The
club meeting takes place Friday Jan 4th at the Westador
Club House at 7pm.
One + One Campaign Offers Great Prizes
Members of the NCM provide some of the best
marketing for our programs, services and the Museum
as a place to visit. We would love your help
in inviting a friend to also become a member.
As an incentive to new members and to thank our
hard working current members, this year’s
One+One Campaign features a drawing for several
gifts and prizes. Each time you recruit a new
member, both you and he or she will be entered
to win.
If everyone would set a goal to recruit just one more, it will help us reach our very
ambitious goals! The promotion runs now through April 27, 2013 (NCM Bash) and
prize drawings will be held - including a 2-day Bondurant Z06 Driving Experience;
your car showcased in NCM’s rotating display; golf package; free hexagon brick
and more!
Become a member online here. When assisting someone with joining, please be
sure to list your name as recruited by on the form that is mailed in, or in special instructions
if joining online.
Country Music Exhibit Featuring Live Performances
As though your visit to the Museum couldn't get any
better, we are now offering, in conjunction with our
Country Music Stars and Cars exhibit, live music performances
in the Exhibit Hall.
Area musicians are donating their time, performing
country, southern and classic rock tunes for Museum
guests. Additionally, musically inclined Museum staff
members Bobbie Jo Lee (NCM Insurance), Bob Bubnis
(Marketing) and Gary Cockriel (Delivery) will be
performing during scheduled group tour visits.
Check out the schedule online here, and we will be constantly updating and adding
additional performances. We hope you will schedule your visit to see the cars and
The cost of an acre is $15,000 and can be paid over a five year period. All “One Acre Club” members will be recognized
for their contribution on a Donor’s Plaque at the Motorsports Park!
There are two types of “One Acre Club” members – Donor Members and Track Time Members.
§ Donor Members – A $15,000 gift is made as a donation to the NCM and they receive the maximum tax deductibility as
allowed by law. The NCM provides an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes to each donor as we are a 501(c)(3)
non-profit foundation.
§ Donor Members will receive an invitation to participate in an event that will be planned just for the Donor Members.
§ Track Time Members – A $15,000 payment is used to purchase prepaid track time and is not deductible for tax purposes.
Track Time Membership must be in one name or group, but the amount can be applied to as many individuals as
desired. Prepaid track time must be redeemed within five years after the Motorsports Park opens and must be scheduled
in advance with the NCM.
Any commitment may be paid over a five year period.
Can’t commit to a full acre Partial acre sponsorships are also available. To learn more about partial acre commitments,
please visit our Sponsorship page here!
http://www.motorsportspark.org/sponsorships/
The National Corvette Museum (NCM) is a non-profit foundation exempt from federal income taxation under Section 501
(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.*
Keith Kozak Joins One Acre Club
When it comes to the NCM Motorsports Park, there are all kinds of good reasons
to support it. For Keith and Dusty Kozak, our most recent One Acre Club members,
they are doing it for their children.
“We have five Corvettes, and each of our three children has claimed one.” Keith
laughs. “We are in the process of doing a frame off restoration on a 1972, which
my son is interested in, and we have an ’82, ’86 Pace Car, 99 and 2010 Grand
Sport.”
When it came to the decision to take their support to the One Acre Club level, it seemed like a logical thing to do. “We love
the Museum and we figured that since our children are going to be Corvette owners in the future they may want to use the
track. That’s mainly what it is. I’m thinking of them and future generations of Corvette owners. Although,” he adds with a
smile, “I’ll probably use it too!”
Corvette News
Five Things You Didn’t Know About The 2014 Corvette
Thanks to some fine reporting by the incomparable
Don Sherman, as well as some very reliable
source material *cough*regarding the car's visuals,
Car and Driverhas assembled the fullest
picture yet of next year's 2014 Corvette.
This unauthorized preview can be found in the
January issue, and you'll get the official C7 story
from C/D.com and Jalopnik after GM unveils
the car at the Detroit Auto Show next month. In
the meantime, though, here are some highlights
of what Car and Driver knows so far.
1. The base car has aluminum rails:
Remember how, for the current-generation Z06 and ZR1, GM did an unprecedented
thing and replaced the hydroformed-steel main spaceframe
members with aluminum ones Well, now even the base car's rails are
alloy.
2. More carbon fiber:
GM has aggressive weight targets for this car, so the panels, bulkhead,
and floor-of the base car-will be fashioned from composites.
3. Michelin won the tire war:
No more Goodyears as base fitment. Pilot Sports, y'all.
4. Manual, saved:
Porsche did the 7-speed-manual thing first, and ingeniously so, with one
box for both self-shift and PDK applications. Here, the 7-speed stands
alone, but needs only four gates rather than the Porsche's five to get the
job done (don't forget reverse).
5. The Stingray comes later, with a V-8:
Although rumors had it bearing a twin-turbo V-6, the Stingray, the Corvette
that jams econo, will be powered by a 400-hp 5.5-liter V-8, and
should give 30-plus mpg on the highway.

SAM HOUSTON INDIVIDUAL INCENTIVE POINTS AWARDS PROGRAM
A point system to stimulate attendance and participation from the entire club has been adopted by the board and goes into effect immediately
upon the start of the August 3, 2012 meeting and will run until June 30, 2013 just before our 20 th anniversary as a club in July. Listed below are
the categories and point values for each. At the end of the program all members’ in good standing will have their points tallied and the persons
with the top three most points will be awarded prizes.
The grand prize is a SHCC club jacket currently valued at $75.00. Second place is a SHCC voucher for club apparel valued at $50.00. Third prize
is a free entry into one of the SHCC car shows.
The board members and their spouses are not eligible for the prizes mentioned above but are compiling the same points to compete among
themselves to win a $25.00 gift certificate at a local restaurant. It is of the opinion that board members and/or their spouses may have an unfair
advantage by attending most all events and this program is intended to help promote other club members to get involved more.
Point system values for attendance and participation are as follows:
Attend Monthly Meeting = 1 point
Attend SHCC Monthly Drive = 2 points
SHCC Event Participation = 3 points (i.e.; Xmas party, bowling, Halloween party etc.)
SHCC Car Show Participant = 4 points (i.e. worker)
SHCC Pre-Run Participant = 5 points (wild flower & fall foliage only)
SHCC Car Show Participant WITH Car Entry = 7
Head Up a SHCC Event or Drive = 10 points
Please note there may be from time to time BONUS Points awarded but it will be announced in advance so everyone will have
fair notice to attend. CHECK YOUR SHCC WEBSITE.
Time:
Here we go again. Come join in the chase for the legendary bandit, Pancho Villa.
He is rumored to be on the Northeast side of Houston. We are forming a
posse of a few brave men and women to send Pancho back to Mexico once and
for all. It is guaranteed to be a run full of twists and turns and a few full throttle
blasts. After Pancho has been thoroughly banished from Texas, it will be
time to water our horses at the Monument Inn at the Lynchburg Crossing,
LaPorte, TX. Bring your fast car and pray for shine. No rain allowed for this
event. During this event, we will cover about 140 miles and it will last about 5
to 6 hours. Pencil in the date now. Please RSVP for this event. We are expecting
a large turn out and we need to let the restaurant know how many to
expect. This event will be open to all Corvette owner’s. Bring a hand held
group of Corvetters. Well here’s how you can put it on paper to get your potential ideas turned into actual
events and placed on the calendar. Check it out and submit it to one of the board members or Jeb Jonas,
our Road Trip Committee Head at jebjonas@msn.com.
1. Starting place, time and date
2. Written itinerary (if applicable) with directions.
3. Map— roads marked.
4. Restaurant name and approximate prices. A menu would be helpful (or website). Talk to someone in
charge and confirm that they can accommodate 30 + people.
5. If overnighter, hotel accommodations need to be verified as well as room prices.
6. Package of info will be presented to Road Trip Committee to make sure everything is complete and in
order.
7. Total road trip package will be presented to the Officers at the next board meeting and they will approve
or disapprove. Their decision is final.
8. If approved, the Road Trip Committee will help finalize details and generally oversee management of
the road trip.
9. 15 or more cars are required to constitute an official club road trip.
