The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
is a leadership recognition program where
local Rotary Clubs and employers select
young people who currently hold leadership
positions, or have shown the potential to
lead, either within the community or at work.
It provides an opportunity to participate in a
challenging week-long residential conference,
where young people:
Discover ways to become a better role
model and more adequately face decisions on
important personal, work and social issues;
Exchange ideas, opinions and plans with
talented, energetic people, in a supportive
atmosphere free from pressure and
distraction;
Develop close rapport with your local
Rotary Club, acquainting you with a leading
service organisation and decision makers
within your community.

TRAINERS
AND
LEADING
PRESENTERS
Professional trainers and leading presenters
offer a broad range of subjects crucial to your
future leadership success.
Some sessions may include:
Living Your Best Image
Emotional Intelligence
Health and Wellbeing
Career Planning and Goal Setting
Effective Communication and Public Speaking
In addition to indoor programs, there are many
outdoor activities to motivate and help develop
effective team work and interpersonal skills.
Take this brochure to your local
Rotary Club or to your employer. You
may be approached by a Rotarian, or
you may apply.
Applications are open to people aged 18-
25 years of age. Ideally you are in a current
leadership role. Those with leadership
aspirations or experience may also apply.
Rotary takes a keen interest in nominees and
often invite them to Rotary meetings as a part
of the selection process.
The selection process requires you to
complete a formal application and then to
attend an interview.
Importantly during this interview, you must
demonstrate a commitment to developing
your leadership abilities and applying them
for the benefit of your community.
