<strong>Fact</strong> <strong>Sheet</strong><br />

Description<br />

The Practice Support Program (<strong>PSP</strong>) fosters transformation in patient<br />

care by helping physicians build capacity in their practices through the<br />

use of innovative clinical and practice management tools and strategies<br />

The <strong>PSP</strong> began as an initiative of the General Practice Services<br />

Committee (<strong>GPSC</strong>), a partnership of Doctors of BC and the Ministry<br />

of Health, and now receives additional direction, support, and funding<br />

from the Shared Care Committee and the Specialist Services Committee<br />

(also partnerships between Doctors of BC and the Ministry of Health)<br />

Purpose<br />

To put tools and evidence-informed strategies in the hands of<br />

physicians, helping enhance the efficiency of their practices and<br />

supporting improved delivery of patient care<br />

Launched 2007<br />

Funding<br />

From the <strong>GPSC</strong> as part of the 2006 Physician Master Agreement<br />

between Doctors of BC and the provincial Ministry of Health<br />

Additional from the Specialist Services Committee for specialist<br />

engagement in the <strong>PSP</strong><br />

Additional from the Shared Care Committee for development and<br />

delivery of and specialist participation in modules with a shared care<br />

approach<br />
