<strong>Swim</strong> <strong>Team</strong> Parents Support Group <strong>Meeting</strong><br />
I. Present – Jamie Vest, Jason Marquardt, Kristine Dulaney, Angie Kuehner, Gayle Barkema, Shelley Lechnir<br />
II. New Business<br />
a. Porpoise Club<br />
i. April 6 th – <strong>March</strong> 27 th ; Monday and Wednesday 5:30 – 6:30. Cost: $35. Coaches will be Sandy<br />
Brown and Amy Brant.<br />
b. Summer <strong>Swim</strong> <strong>Team</strong><br />
i. Shelley had a meeting scheduled for April 26 th at 2:00 at Walnut Creek to finalize the schedule and<br />
have a rules meeting.<br />
ii. Meet Dates: (*Please note I do not know where these will be held until Apr. 26 th ) June 16, 23, 30,<br />
iii. July 7, 14, 21. Conference meet will be held in Marshalltown on July 25 th .<br />
iv. Practices will begin June 1 st . June 1 – June 11 practices will be 5:30 -8:30pm Monday – Thursday.<br />
Morning practices will begin June 15 th 7:00 – 10:00am Monday – Friday<br />
v. Janelle Carter is working with Kelly Nordell from ISU to have a camp here in Marshalltown either<br />
Saturday June 13 th or Monday June 15 th . We will keep you posted.<br />
c. State Meet<br />
i. How did it go What was good Needs Improvement<br />
1. Too many people for Ribbons…..only need 3.<br />
2. Would like to see recycle bins for the plastic bottles next year.<br />
3. It worked much better on Sunday having the extra person on the SW side of the pool for<br />
clerk of course. (Karen B.)<br />
4. Food was much better on Sunday having Kevin B. hand it out. Will do that again next<br />
year.<br />
5. Didn’t like Sports Page where they were located. Would like to see them share the party<br />
room with Alternatives…..plenty of room, both would benefit.<br />
ii. Robert Mancieri – Alternatives; Wondering why Marshalltown parents didn’t use. This was<br />
discussed and the main response was that they are all working and are too busy to get there. Its not<br />
that they don’t want to just don’t have the time.<br />
1. Also said he would be interested in taking the team photos next year. We will discuss<br />
this in the fall.<br />
2. Sales totals- see Shelley for details<br />
iii. Medal Manager – sales totals; see Shelley for details<br />
iv. Sportspage – Sales totals; see Shelley for details; Next year need a new area for booth. Also have<br />
them bring a lot more for State, was sold out of most things by Sunday. Todd sent a summary of the<br />
season and ideas for next year; see Shelley<br />
v. Fine Designs – Sales totals; see Shelley<br />
1. Major consensus from all teams was that prices too high…though this didn’t stop them<br />
from buying,<br />
2. not enough sizes and colors,
3. price signs too small to read,<br />
4. lines and wait too long; need more help/presses<br />
5. Would like to see one general shirt next year for a reasonable price.<br />
6. Pre-orders<br />
7. We will look at improvements for next year.<br />
vi. Other: Final Ad Sales, Program Sales; See Shelley<br />
III. Announcements<br />
a. Thirteen <strong>Blue</strong> <strong>Wave</strong> <strong>Swim</strong>mers will be traveling to Minnesota for the Regional Meet on <strong>March</strong> 27 th – 29 th .<br />
They are: Brian Bacon, Leah Barkema, Sam Carter, Ray Dulaney, Mike Gettemy, Andrew Hansen, Chloe<br />
Kuehner, Hayley Lillibridge, Tomas Snadjr, Blair, Glenn, and Morgan VanStaalduine, Mike Wickwire.<br />
b. End of season Banquet scheduled for April 5 th , 2009 at 5:00p.m. Dinner and awards will be in the lap pool.<br />
There will be open swim from 5:30 – 7:30 in the Recreational Pool for all to enjoy.<br />
i. Menu – Baked Potato Bar<br />
1. Toppings - sour cream, nacho cheese, bacon, broccoli, taco meat, chicken, ham, butter,<br />
salt and pepper, chili, salsa.<br />
2. Bread, Rolls, deserts and tea, water or juice.<br />
3. Table settings will be supplied.<br />
4. Baked potatoes will come from Rubes and prepared there.<br />
c. Shelley has sent out an email to all of the coaches that attended the state meet, to see how my rookie year went<br />
and areas I can improve for the coming years<br />
i. Most have stated that the T-shirts were the biggest concern<br />
d. Cindy Wright and Family will be moving to Reno, NV.<br />
i. Thank you Cindy for all of your years of dedication to the <strong>Blue</strong> <strong>Wave</strong> <strong>Team</strong> you will be dearly<br />
missed.<br />

IV. Old Business<br />
a. Thank you to all the parents volunteers at the state meet. You helped make it a great success! Thank you!!!!!<br />
Thank you for all of your support and love throughout this season. You make my job as a coach very enjoyable<br />
and I am very blessed to be a part of your children’s lives. Thank you.<br />
