Today’s international operation has emerged from
the amalgamation of six companies in five countries
to create a dynamic and world-class operation with
group headquarters in Arnoldstein, Austria.
Crucial to company success is adaptability in
response to changing customer needs in a
challenging and evolving international market. We
give our clients a perfect combination of great value,
quality products, innovative R&D, international
experience and reliable delivery underpinned by a
and external processes.
Optimum quality is the company’s number one
priority from factory-floor to delivery point. A
talented, flexible and committed team are motivated
by the highest standards of quality. The following
Pioneering lead-free solutions
Setting the standard for lead-free stabiliser systems
Aware of its environmental responsibilities and following systematic
research and development, Chemson has launched an innovative
and complete range of lead-free stabilisers. Under the Naftosafe®
brand name, they are available on an organic and calcium-zinc basis
and meet all the required functional and safety standards. This
allows the efficient implementation of the EU drinking water directive
(98/83/EG), which prescribes a reduction in the current limit of 25
micrograms of lead/litre to 10 micrograms/litre in 2013.
As a member of the European Stabilisers
Producers Association (ESPA), Chemson
has undertaken to develop sustainable
stabiliser systems. “Sustainability is
development, which meets the needs of
the present, without compromising the
ability of future generations to meet their
own needs ...”
(Brundtland Report 1987)
PVC-pipes
Stability for generations
Decades of reliability
As a result of special additives, PVC pipes have a very
long service life and are extremely corrosion-resistant.
100 years is a realistic figure, as 45 years of on-going
testing and the continuing operation of pipes laid 60
years ago demonstrate. Their resistance to chemicals
makes them ideal for the transport of aggressive
industrial wastewater and as production lines in the
chemicals industry. In addition, because of their smooth
inner surfaces, PVC pipes offer a high level of hydraulic
capacity, which prevents incrustation and maximises
through-flow with minimum turbulence. This status is
further supported by excellent mechanical
characteristics and cost-to-performance ratio.
Proven durability
The characteristic resilience of PVC pipes is made
possible by special PVC additive systems, making
them extremely sturdy and hard-wearing even under
extreme loads. Typically, PVC pipes are divided into
the following general categories:
> Drinking water pipes
> Wastewater pipes
> Drainage pipes
> Hot water pipes
> Cable protection pipes / conduits
Innovative stabiliser systems
Technology for posterity
The production of PVC tube systems and injection
moulded products demands highly effective stabiliser
systems. A ground-breaking alternative technology
to standard Pb systems with an exciting
future in PVC applications is Chemson’s OBS range
of organic-based stabilisers, which represent a
decisive step towards modern, heavy metal-free
technology.
OBS offer additional advantages:
> No detrimental effects on drinking water quality
(smell, taste, turbidity, chlorine consumption, TOC
and bacterial growth)
> Positive listings, e.g. in the BGVV “Positive list of
drinking water pipes“ or the “EU directive for
synthetics in contact with foods”
> Registration in the EU (EINECS), USA (TSCA),
Canada (DSL), Japan (MITI) and Australia (NICNAS)
> Retention of typical, positive PVC pipe characteristics
such as rigidity, internal pressure, impact and
chemical resistance, which enables compliance
with relevant pipe standards
> Availability as a one-pack system in various product
formats
> Compatible with all standard stabiliser systems
> Enhances recyclability of PVC pipes.
Special applications
Making life easier
Over many years, PVC-U has proved highly effective as a material
for sewage pipes for wastewater disposal, pressure pipes for the
supply of drinking water, cable protection pipes for the safeguarding
of electrical lines and for industrial pipelines for the transport of
aggressive media.
PVC-U is a reasonably priced solution for drinking water distribution
and main supply lines.
Foam core pipes
Being 30% lighter than compact pipes
while retaining their good insulation
characteristics, foam core pipes are
employed in the pressureless area as
waste, sewage and ventilation pipes.
Other advantages over compact pipes
include:
> Lower cost due to material savings
> Improved noise insulation
> Easier handling
> Fit for recycling
> Superior environmental qualities
Special applications
Making life easier
Biaxially-oriented pipes
Compared to non-molecular processed pipes, biaxially-oriented PVC pipes offer weight savings of up to
40% in conjunction with a virtual doubling of impact and circumferential resistance. This weight reduction
provides raw material savings not available with non-oriented PVC pipes used for the same application.
