BMS Sports Equipment and Uniforms
As part of the BMS sports experience, team uniforms are provided. Students are expected to
properly care for and return their uniform in a timely manner after the season ends. To ensure
that uniform standards are met, all garments underneath BMS uniforms, if worn, need to be all
white. This includes long or short sleeve under shirts and compression shirts or shorts, for all
sports including; volleyball, football, basketball, wrestling and track. All team members
should make an effort to look similar. All football equipment will be provided except for girdle
shorts and socks, due to the personal nature of these items. A limited number of girdles
will be available, if necessary. The football socks should be plain dark green and can be purchased
on your own or through the school for $5. Please help make BMS proud with sharp
looking athletic teams!
PBIS Celebration!
On Friday, November 30 we had an assembly to reward students for their positive behavior. PBIS Recognition
Committee students and faculty coordinated gift awards per week, six weeks and a trimester recognition for
students demonstrating model behavior.
At the assembly we had 9 students picked for our weekly drawings: with No cost rewards such as being first
in the lunch line. We also had our 6 week drawings which included: I tunes, gift cards, Walmart gift cards,
and a spa package. Three names for trimester games were picked, one from each grade level. They played
Minute to Win It games in order to pick their prize.
The first game was called Hanky Panky. They had to pull the Kleenexes out one at a time out of two different
boxes of Kleenexes. The winner of this game earned the right to be the first one to pick a prize out of 3 boxes.
The second game was called Egg Dance. They had to carry eggs on a tray if the egg dropped they had to start
over.
6 th grade Ashley Stellmacher won a Badger Sports Park gift card, 7 th grade Alex Olofson won a Fox River
Mall Card, and 8 th grade Rachel Bertzyk won an I pod shuffle.
It was great to see the excitement of the students when their name is called for winning a prize. Students
please continue to show the Berlin Middle School staff your positive behavior!
Boys & Girls Phy. Ed. Classes
The Middle School PE classes will be swimming during
the month of January (2nd—31st). Students will
need to bring a swimsuit from home and wash or rinse
it after each use. However, towels will be provided.
Anyone needing to be excused from swimming must
have a note from their parents. Students will report to
Mr. Schumacher in the library to do make-up work
each day that they are unable to swim. Students will
be expected to do make-up work for all absences excused
or not. It is our expectation that students will
swim daily and it is our goal to help all students become
stronger and safer swimmers!
No Scoliosis Screening
7th grade Math
The 7th graders will be working with percents during January. They will also work with Simple Interest,
Inventory and Costs. At the end of the month they will work in groups and own their own
business.
Sixth Grade Science
Sixth Grade Science
MICRO-LIFE
The sixth grade science class will be studying viruses and simple organisms. We will
make models of viruses, and be working with microscopes to identify certain bacteria and protists.
Students will create a booklet of the protists they identify under their microscopes. They
will see organisms like amoebas, euglenas, and paramecia. As we finish studying protists, students
will create a protist of their own at home using any materials they wish.
Math 6
During January the sixth grade mathematicians will learn how to write and solve problems
involving ratios, rates, and proportions. Students will also be learning about the relationship
between percents, decimals, and fractions. Encourage your child to calculate the tax on a
purchase or the tip for services rendered.
6th Grade World History
This month in World History we will be learning about the ancient Romans. As part of our study of the Romans,
each student will be making a brochure. A letter that explains the project will be sent home with your
child on Thursday, January 3rd. The brochure will be worth 100 points and will be due on Wednesday, February
13th. If your child uses their class time well, they should be able to complete the entire project at school.
Please check to see how your child is progressing on this project when we start it. If you have any questions
about the brochure, please contact Mr. Tronoff.
