Your Spouse or Domestic Partner:<br />
Your spouse is eligible for all of the benefits provided by the <strong>CWA</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>1180</strong> Security<br />
Benefits Fund and some of the benefits provided by the <strong>CWA</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>1180</strong> Legal Benefits<br />
Fund,* if:<br />
‣ You and your spouse are legally married.<br />
Your domestic partner is eligible for all of the benefits provided by the <strong>CWA</strong> security<br />
Benefits Fund and some of the benefits provided by the <strong>CWA</strong> Legal Benefits Fund,* if:<br />
‣ Your domestic partner has qualified for and been certified by the City as a domestic<br />
partner eligible for City health plan coverage<br />
or<br />
‣ You and your domestic partner present proof of certification by the City of domestic<br />
partners’ health insurance coverage. (If you are an eligible employee of an employer<br />
other than the City of New York, your domestic partner must be certified as a domestic<br />
partner in accordance with criteria similar to those employed by the City. Please contact<br />
the Fund Office for information about the certification process.)<br />
As a general rule, whenever the term “your spouse” is used in this booklet, it is intended to<br />
refer to your eligible domestic partner as well, unless otherwise noted or the context<br />
indicates that such usage was not intended. References to children, moreover, are also<br />
intended to refer to children of your eligible domestic partner.<br />
* Consult the eligibility rules of the Legal Benefits Fund for a description of the Legal<br />
Services Benefits available to a spouse or domestic partner of a member.<br />
NOTE:<br />
The cost of coverage for domestic partners may be taxable as income to the Fund member.<br />

Your Children:<br />
Your children are eligible for some of the benefits provided by the <strong>CWA</strong> <strong>Local</strong><br />
<strong>1180</strong> Security Benefits and <strong>CWA</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>1180</strong> Legal Benefits Funds, if:<br />
‣ They are your biological children two weeks of age until their 19 th birthday<br />
or<br />
‣ They are your legally adopted children from placement until their 19 th birthday<br />
or<br />
‣ They are your stepchildren from date of marriage until their 19 th birthday<br />
or<br />
