How to find seasonal,
local produce
Tired of eating out-of-season and
frozen fruits and vegetables that
offer very little taste Below are a
few tips on how to find and eat
more fresh, seasonal and local
produce.
Do some research to find out
what’s in season. Take the list with
you every time you go shopping.
Sometimes an abundance of a
crop will cause its price to
plummet, so pay particular
attention to specials on fruits and
vegetables offered by your local
store.
Find your nearest Farmer’s
Market. These markets are the
place to find the freshest in-season
fruits and vegetables because they
are often picked that morning or
the day before. Find a farmer’s
market near you at
Tobacco Cessation: This 3-week program provides education, medication and support to clients that desire to quit using tobacco. The classes are offered
free-of-charge to all active duty, Reservist/Guard, retired military personnel, their family members, DoD civilians and contractors. Nicotine Replacement
Therapy (NRT) products are available only to Tricare beneficiaries (active duty military members, retirees and their families). DoD civilians interested in
attending the classes can request excused absence under “wellness activities” per Air Force Guidance Memorandum to AFI 36-815, Absence and Leave,
dated 8 April 2014. Upon enrollment, Tricare beneficiary participants will receive a consultation with their on-base provider, who will help choose the
nicotine replacement therapy that is right for you. For additional information on tobacco cessation, consult these resources:
