Outdoor Sketching and Drawing<br />

Make art outside. A variety of media will be available<br />

for exploring the details of nature. Students will have<br />

the chance to make drawings based on life and interpret<br />

nature through stylized or abstract interpretations. We<br />

will look at texture and pattern in nature as sources of<br />

inspiration.<br />

Open Studio Art Class<br />

This class is designed for the passionate young artist.<br />

In the open studio art setting, participants chart<br />

their own path as they experiment with and explore<br />

various painting, drawing, mixed-media, sculpture and<br />

printmaking techniques. Students will develop art skills,<br />

play surrealist-inspired art-games, and leave with a<br />

portfolio of exciting new images. Join us and travel on<br />

your own art-making journey.<br />

Learn drawing techniques and tricks. Explore point<br />

perspective, value, texture, and proportion and apply<br />

Batik for Beginners<br />

Batik uses hot wax and colored dyes to create beautiful<br />

patterns and images on cloth. T- shirts, wall hangings,<br />

or other wearable art will all be options for this class.<br />

Learn the intricate art of batik, which uses light resists<br />

and layered color, to create your own clothing or<br />

wall- hanging.<br />

Portrait Art<br />

This class will explore the long tradition of drawing<br />

and painting the human face. Students will have the<br />

opportunity to make art about someone important to<br />

them, someone they know or someone they admire, and<br />

to make a self- portrait, which explores the face we know<br />

best - - our own!<br />

Collage<br />

We will start with drawings and then add layers of color<br />

and texture to our ideas to create mosaic- like images.<br />

Magazines, pieces of fabric, found objects, and prepared<br />

papers will be available to cut, tear, and glue. Have fun<br />

watching your drawings come to life!<br />

Jewelry Design and<br />

Wearable Art<br />

Design your own jewelry and wearable art in this<br />

fascinating class. Students will design and create<br />

bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and wearable art such as<br />

shirts and other clothing. Students will learn the process<br />

of designing and creating jewelry and clothing and will be<br />

involved in all aspects of wearable art.<br />
