Introduction
The NSFMW is the world’s premier flow
metering event, attracting leading flow
measurement specialists from around the
globe to meet and discuss the latest
measurement issues relating to oil and gas
production. The event which is shared biannually
with our colleagues in Norway, is
taking place this year at the prestigious
location of the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel,
Scotland, UK.
2010 Workshop
The 2010 Workshop will feature topics
relevant to today’s oil and gas business.
Delegates will hear from key industry
players on topics such as subsea technology,
flare gas metering, meter diagnostics, liquid
measurement, advances in multiphase
measurement, subsea technology and a
general measurement overview.
The technical content in the presentation
programme is complemented by the
discussion, poster and networking sessions
throughout the duration of the event.
Together with the latest technological
advances on display at the exhibition area,
the 2010 Workshop promises to be one of
the most enjoyable and informative yet.
The Workshop fee is £1700 plus VAT. This
rate covers fully inclusive attendance at all
the Workshop technical sessions, a hard and
electronic copy of the proceedings,
accommodation on 26th, 27th and 28th
October and meals. Transport at set times
from Edinburgh or Aberdeen airports will be
available.
We expect the Workshop and
accommodation to be over-subscribed so
places will be allocated on a first-come,
first-served basis. Delegates who are unable
to be housed within Fairmont St Andrews
will be accommodated at the famous Old
Course Hotel, St Andrews.
Partners Programme
It is hoped that delegates will take the
opportunity to invite spouses / partners to
accompany them to the Workshop. The
partner’s fee includes the shared bedroom,
all meals and the opportunity to participate
in a scenic tour each day. However, many
partners just enjoy relaxing in the hotel spa
or exploring the local villages independently.
Training Courses
The Workshop will be accompanied by two
optional training courses on Monday 25
October: Measurement Uncertainty and
Multiphase and Wet Gas. Further details are
contained within this flyer.
Transport
Buses will be available to transport
delegates from Aberdeen Airport (leaving
promptly at 10:00 am) and Edinburgh
Airport (leaving promptly at 11:00 am) to
the Workshop venue on Tuesday 26 October.
Buses will depart St Andrews at 09:00 hrs
on Friday 29th October. Please ensure that
your flight arrival and departure times
coincide with the above bus times allowing
time for customs/baggage and check-in.
Measurement Uncertainty
Training Course
Monday 25 October
09:30 – 16:30
Introduction & Objectives
Measurement is fundamental to the control of quality, efficiency and
safety. It is vital that all those using industrial measurement
recognise that measurement is not an exact science. Understanding
the magnitude of the uncertainty associated with any measurement
is the first step to improving accuracy. This interactive training
course aims to provide an understanding of the concepts and
terminology of uncertainty, the development of uncertainty budgets
and their practical application.
Who Should Attend
People who will benefit include:
• Research and development engineers
• Instrumentation engineers
• Quality managers
• Technical managers
Knowledge Outcomes
By the end of this course each delegate will have:
• An understanding of the concepts and terminology of uncertainty.
• Appreciation of sources of uncertainty and how to obtain
appropriate data.
• Knowledge of how to combine input uncertainties to produce a
final output uncertainty.
• The ability to construct uncertainty budget tables.
• An understanding of how to use uncertainty budget tables to
target process improvements, inform investment decisions and
demonstrate regulatory compliance.
Course Directors
Calum Hardie joined TUV NEL in 2008 and has since been working
on uncertainty projects along with projects to develop cryogenic and
non-Newtonian flow rigs.
Alick MacGillivray has worked at TUV NEL for over 20 years. He
currently leads in consultancy activities in the areas of allocation, data
reconcilliation and produced water management for clients in the oil &
gas and water industries.
Multiphase and Wet Gas
Training Course
Monday 25 October
09:30 – 16:30
Introduction & Objectives
The demand to measure multiphase and wet gas flows is increasing
in the oil and gas industry worldwide. To meet this demand, there is
a requirement for engineers to understand the complexities of
multiphase and wet gas flows, effective metering techniques and flow
assurance strategies. This interactive training course aims to
provide an extensive overview of multiphase and wet gas flow
metering to meet these requirements and encourage discussion on
issues encountered and future challenges.
Who Should Attend
People who will benefit include:
• Operators
• Metering engineers
• Pipeline engineers
• Production engineers
• R&D managers
• Graduate engineers
Knowledge Outcomes
By the end of this course each delegate will have:
• Increased understanding of multiphase and wet gas flows.
• Appreciation of the issues involved with metering multiphase and
wet gas flows.
• Knowledge of technologies available to measure multiphase and
wet gas flows.
• Information on commercial multiphase and wet gas meters.
• Greater confidence in selecting the best meter for an application.
• An awareness of multiphase and wet gas challenges faced in the
field.
Course Directors
Amy Ross joined TUV NEL in 2008 and has been involved in a
number of projects concerning multiphase flow measurement. These
include evaluation of commercial meters, multiphase flow with high
viscosity oil and complex flow characterisation.
Emmelyn Graham has worked on various wet-gas flow measurement
projects including the development of a new Venturi over-reading
correlation. In addition to wet-gas research, she is specialising in
pipeline sampling of complex flows and differential pressure meters.
Course Fee: £475
Course Fee: £475
