Youth Work Practice
Introduction
The Level 2 Award and Certificate are designed to
help you develop the critical skills and knowledge you
need to work effectively with young people.
The Award
Enables you to dynamically link theory to practice using realistic case studies and scenarios. This award focuses on enhancing
your ability to understand and address the various challenges inherent in youth work.
The Certificate
Builds on the skills and knowledge you acquired at the Award level. The certificate provides you with the additional insight
required to effectively perform the role of Assistant Youth Support Worker.
Building Your Qualification
The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) allows you to develop skills and knowledge at a pace and level that suits your
needs. Every unit and qualification in the new framework has a credit value.
Learners who have achieved any of the units in this qualification from Youthforce (or another accredited organisation) can
transfer the credit to the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice.
The two qualifications for Level 2 in Youth Work Practice are as follows:
• Award: Learners must achieve a minimum of 10 credits – 3 credits from the mandatory units and no less than 7 credits
from the optional units.
• Certificate: Learners must achieve no less than 23 credits – 17 credits from the mandatory units and at least 6 credits
from the optional units.
Progression
Learners who achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Youth Work Practice are eligible to progress to Level 3 Award/Certificate/
Diploma.
