Introduction<br />

The <strong>Level</strong> 2 Award and Certificate are designed to<br />

help you develop the critical skills and knowledge you<br />

need to work effectively with young people.<br />

The Award<br />

Enables you to dynamically l<strong>in</strong>k theory to practice us<strong>in</strong>g realistic case studies and scenarios. This award focuses on enhanc<strong>in</strong>g<br />

your ability to understand and address the various challenges <strong>in</strong>herent <strong>in</strong> youth work.<br />

The Certificate<br />

Builds on the skills and knowledge you acquired at the Award level. The certificate provides you with the additional <strong>in</strong>sight<br />

required to effectively per<strong>for</strong>m the role of Assistant <strong>Youth</strong> Support <strong>Work</strong>er.<br />

Build<strong>in</strong>g Your Qualification<br />

The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) allows you to develop skills and knowledge at a pace and level that suits your<br />

needs. Every unit and qualification <strong>in</strong> the new framework has a credit value.<br />

Learners who have achieved any of the units <strong>in</strong> this qualification from <strong>Youth</strong><strong>for</strong>ce (or another accredited organisation) can<br />

transfer the credit to the <strong>Level</strong> 2 Certificate <strong>in</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Work</strong> <strong>Practice</strong>.<br />

The two qualifications <strong>for</strong> <strong>Level</strong> 2 <strong>in</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Work</strong> <strong>Practice</strong> are as follows:<br />

• Award: Learners must achieve a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 10 credits – 3 credits from the mandatory units and no less than 7 credits<br />

from the optional units.<br />

• Certificate: Learners must achieve no less than 23 credits – 17 credits from the mandatory units and at least 6 credits<br />

from the optional units.<br />

Progression<br />

Learners who achieve the <strong>Level</strong> 2 Certificate <strong>in</strong> <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Work</strong> <strong>Practice</strong> are eligible to progress to <strong>Level</strong> 3 Award/Certificate/<br />

Diploma.<br />
