About Us
Dear Friends:
The 2010-2011 school year is in full swing and our current students are
enjoying an abundance of opportunities thanks in part to the inspired
investment of our venerable alumni and friends.
As the state's public education funding crisis advances, ETHS continues to
practice superior fiscal management while it staves off budget cuts and
shortfalls with private philanthropy.
We hope that you will consider making a gift in support of ETHS. There are
numerous ways that you can contribute including planned and memorial gifts
as well as corporate sponsorships. Gifts from individuals and local businesses
have allowed the ETHS Educational Foundation to provide funding for the
following in the past year:
Renovation of the Special Education Transition House
Vocational education certificate programs in the fields of
automotive technology, early childhood education and culinary arts.
Scholarship fund for students going on to study nursing in an
accredited post secondary nursing program or college.
Through individual, corporate,
and foundation gifts, the
Foundation is able to raise and
distribute funds to the high
school in order to complement,
enhance and enrich beyond the
means of conventional public
funding, opportunities that
further the educational mission of
Evanston Township High School.
Our newest initiative is raising funds for ETHS's science labs and the the
development of a renewable energy education lab program, dedicated to
providing students with basic knowledge of renewable energy resources.
Funds from the Educational Foundation will support construction of an
accessible, on-site field ecology education lab. The lab provides essential
curricular supports such as storage, equipment access, laboratory and research
space, multimedia capabilities and computer technologies.
The renewable energy education lab will educate students on PV solar and
wind electrical generation, solar hot water heating, and geothermal climate
control systems.
ETHS Foundation Hosts Century Bike Ride
A record 2,300 cyclists
descended upon Evanston
Township High School to
participate in the Evanston
Bike Club's annual North Shore
Century ride.
In true ETHS spirit, teachers,
students and Educational
Foundation board members
rallied. They enjoyed a sunny
and 65 degree day of cycling
and helped raise money to
support the ETHS Special
Education Transition House. The facility provides a home setting for
developmentally disabled young adults, aged 18-22, to learn the life skills
necessary for leading semi-independent lives.
Celebrating Community Partnerships
The Autobarn of Evanston has really come through for ETHS! Chris Klbecka,
Parts and Service Director, actively involved in our efforts to become and
Automotive Service Excellence certified high school through the National
Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). According to Chris, "We
will continue to find ways to help support not only the automotive program
but the whole school. We currently run a job shadow day two times a year and
also employ three students. It's nice to be able to help with potential
opportunities for the youth of today who will be in the work force sooner than
we realize."
Additionally, Christopher Duquet Fine Jewelry Design Ltd. was the inspiration
behind the acknowledgment gift given to members of the newly established
Boltwood Society. Mr. Duquet designed and created the beautiful sterling
silver pins (lapel pin for men and larger pin for women). He has donated his
time, talents and these new treasures to the Educational Foundation.
