actually earning a place in the All-State group. All-State performances were held in February as part of the annual TMEA
Convention, where over 24,000 people from Texas and beyond attended over 290 workshops, 65 concerts and visited
Bob Kennedy, KISD Warehouse/Distribution Supervisor, was selected as the Heart at Work winner for March. Bob was
nominated by KISD Director of Payroll Marlene Rutledge and the Payroll Team, for his generosity. Marlene noted that: “In the
middle of his daily operations, Bob spared two of his employees to assist payroll with preparing the W2’s for mailing. With their
help, the task was completed in record time.”
ePayables Program Recognition
John McKinzie, Commercial Card Account Manager for Commerce Bank, will present a check to Keller ISD in the amount of
$122,935.81 for the success of the district’s ePayables Program. ePayables allows Keller ISD to pay electronically any vendor
who will accept payment by credit card and who enrolls in the program. The vendor receives their money considerably faster
than waiting for a check through the mail. In addition, the bank rebates a percentage of these payments back to the
District. This program is in line with Strategic Goal 5.4 - Actively pursue supplemental funding; and 3.2 - Develop and improve
methods to provide exceptional customer service.
Sodexo’s HUSSC Bronze Awards for 25 Keller ISD Campuses
The Healthier US School Challenge is a voluntary certification initiative established in 2004 to recognize schools participating
in the National School Lunch Program that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and
physical activity. This past March, the district was notified by Cecilia Hinson from the United States Department of Agriculture,
Food and Nutrition Services Division that 25 Keller ISD elementary and intermediate campuses were recipients of the bronze
level award.
Some of the criteria that must be in place to receive the bronze level award are as follows:
• Offering a different vegetable and fruit each day
• Offering of whole-grain foods
• Low-fat (1% or less) and fat-free (skim) fluid milk
• Nutrition Education
• Physical Education/Activity
2011-12 Campus Teacher of the Year Recognitions
Keller ISD campus staffs have each chosen a 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year to represent their respective schools. These 39
outstanding recipients are currently participating in an extensive Texas State Teacher of the Year application process. After a
designated committee reviews the applications, ten finalists will be selected – five elementary teachers and five secondary
teachers. KISD Administrators will then conduct interviews with each finalist from which the 2011-12 Elementary and
Secondary Teachers of the Year will be determined. Congratulations to:
