His 2008 Claves label recording of <strong>the</strong> Wienawski 2nd Violin Concerto and Vieuxtemp’s 5th Concerto <br />

<strong>with</strong> Lausanne Chamber Orchestra conducted by Hannu Lintu was received <strong>with</strong> great acclaim. This <br />

recording followed <strong>the</strong> 2006 release on Claves of <strong>the</strong> complete Sonatas for Violin and Piano of <br />

Beethoven <strong>with</strong> pianist Paavali Jumppanen, which received numerous awards, including Gramophone <br />

Recommends, 5 Diapasons, 4 stars from Le Monde de la Musique, Supersonic Pizzicato, and Fono Forum <br />

Stern des Monats, and <strong>the</strong> Miderm Award for best chamber music recording for 2008. His Corigliano <br />

Violin Sonata, <strong>with</strong> Andrew Russo on <strong>the</strong> Black Box label, was nominated for a 2006 Grammy Award. <br />

<strong>Corey</strong> <strong>Cerovsek</strong> Plays Wieniawski, made <strong>with</strong> pianist Katja <strong>Cerovsek</strong> for <strong>the</strong> Delos label, also received <br />

much critical acclaim. O<strong>the</strong>r recordings have been released on <strong>the</strong> Delos, Black Box, Aguavá New Music <br />

Studio, and Cala Records labels. <br />

Mr. <strong>Cerovsek</strong>’s 2010-­‐11 season includes return engagements at <strong>the</strong> New West Symphony, Edmonton <br />

Symphony, and Syracuse Symphony; and recitals for Chamber Music San Francisco, Jacksonville’s <br />

prestigious Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and Palm Beach’s Society of <strong>the</strong> Four Arts. <br />

In <strong>the</strong> summer of 2009, Mr. <strong>Cerovsek</strong> returned to <strong>the</strong> Festival International de Lanaudiere performing <br />

<strong>the</strong> Korngold Concerto <strong>with</strong> <strong>the</strong> Montreal Symphony under <strong>the</strong> direction of Julian Kuerti. In North <br />

America in 2009-­‐10 he returned to <strong>the</strong> Indianapolis Symphony to perform <strong>the</strong> Stravinsky Concerto <strong>with</strong> <br />

Hannu Lintu conducting. <br />

He has been featured twice on NBC’s Tonight Show <strong>with</strong> Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, on <strong>the</strong> David Frost <br />

Show in England, on <strong>the</strong> PBS special Musical Encounters and on CBS’s Sunday Morning. <br />

Born in 1972 in <strong>Vancouver</strong>, Canada, and now residing in Paris, <strong>Cerovsek</strong> began playing <strong>the</strong> violin at <strong>the</strong> <br />

age of five. After early studies <strong>with</strong> Charmian Gadd and Richard Goldner he graduated at age 12 from <br />

<strong>the</strong> University of Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music <strong>with</strong> a gold medal for <strong>the</strong> highest marks in <br />

strings. That same year, he was accepted by Josef Gingold as a student and enrolled at Indiana <br />

University, where he received bachelor’s degrees in ma<strong>the</strong>matics and music at age 15, masters in both <br />

at 16, and completed his doctoral course work in ma<strong>the</strong>matics and music at age 18. Concurrently he <br />

studied piano <strong>with</strong> Enrica Cavallo, until 1997 frequently appearing in concert performing on both <br />

instruments. <br />

<strong>Corey</strong> <strong>Cerovsek</strong> <strong>performs</strong> on <strong>the</strong> “Milanollo” Stradivarius of 1728, an instrument played, among o<strong>the</strong>rs, <br />

by Christian Ferras, Giovanni Battista Viotti, and Nicolò Paganini. <br />
