• Meet at the Extension <strong>Center</strong> plus field trips to<br />

Gwynn Valley Farm and other locations<br />

• Open to 4th-7th graders<br />

• Do not have to own a horse to join.<br />

The 4-H clover is the most recognized<br />

logo in the world. The green stands for<br />

growth while the white stands for<br />

purity. The four H’s stand for Head,<br />

Heart, Hands, and Health.<br />

The Jr. Cooking Club learn healthy eating<br />

tips from a teen leader.<br />

What Is A 4-H Club<br />

A 4-H Club is the most basic unit of 4-H. Some clubs<br />

are large and some are small; however, a new club can<br />

be organized with as few as 5 youth and a volunteer<br />

club leader.<br />

Clubs generally meet once or twice a month on a<br />

regular schedule, which is determined by the families<br />

in the club. The clubs may plan recreational activities,<br />

community service projects, fundraisers and field trips.<br />

AS 4-H club members children have the opportunity<br />

to meet new people, make new friends, learn about<br />

projects, participate in club trips and activities, and<br />

more.<br />

It does not cost anything to belong to 4-H. There are<br />

no uniforms to buy or products to sell. 4-H is open<br />

to all youths ages 5-18 and their families. There are a<br />

variety of clubs which offer something for everyone.<br />

The mission of the <strong>North</strong> Carolina State University<br />

4-H Youth Development Program is to assist youth<br />

and adults in becoming competent, coping, and contributing<br />

members of a global society, developing<br />

essential life skills through planned “learn by doing”<br />

experiences.
