Adventurer, skilled horseman, writer, photographer,<br />
filmmaker, artisan and a gypsy cultural enthusiast. <strong>Jacques</strong><br />
<strong>Leonard</strong> (Paris 1909 – L´Escala (Girona) 1995), “el <strong>payo</strong><br />
<strong>Chac</strong>” (<strong>Chac</strong>, the non-gypsy) , fell in love with Barcelona<br />
and settled there.<br />
For 15 years, his legacy was kept in a storage room. Today,<br />
by opening the archive, his sons Santiago and Alex, revive<br />
this great French photographer who sought the world of the<br />
gypsy people. Further, they find in <strong>Jacques</strong>’ own handwriting<br />
all the secrets of his hazardous and hectic life, which<br />
culminated when he met Rosario Amaya, a beautiful gypsy<br />
from Barcelona. They discover the true identity of a father<br />
who rarely spoke about himself.<br />
<strong>Jacques</strong> own voice and the voices of the people who knew<br />
him make up a fascinating portrait thoroughly illustrated by<br />
his own photographs.<br />
