Welcome!
Life seems to move at such a pace these days, I’m sure
like you, 2014 seemed to fly by. It’s great to look back
over the past year to reflect on what God has done, to
remember significant moments and to see where we are
in our lives. As we come into 2015, we can use the past
year as a springboard into everything God wants to do in
this new year.
Launching into 2015 were going to give the first of the year to
God by tithing the first 40 days in prayer and fasting. Life is busy
and filled with many distractions, but we want to start the year as
we mean to go on. As we put God first at the beginning of the year
we will then see the fruit of this through the coming months.
During this time we will have Encounter prayer nights and
early morning prayer, as well as friends, food and communion
evenings. This will all culminate on the 40th evening, Friday
13th February, with a bring and share party at Foundry Lane
from 7pm followed by an Encounter prayer time. We will be able
to thank God for what He has done during the 40 days but also
to launch into the rest of the year.
Our Vision Night in January will also help to set the scene for
2015 for what God wants to do in our lives, the 25-mile
radius and beyond.

for children is that right from the word go they know Jesus for themselves
and understand that they are called, chosen and loved by God. We love
to make things as messy, crazy and fun as possible whilst we get to know
Jesus better and better. We have a great team dedicated to seeing our
Children become all they can be and to live for Jesus 24/7!

School or College. Its a chance to have fun
getting to know each other as well as looking into

We know that being a parent can be rewarding, challenging and frustrating all at the same time. After all, children don’t
come with an instruction manual, do they?! But discovering that we are not alone in the challenges we face and picking
up ideas from other parents can make a huge difference. That’s why we run 2 courses in a relaxed and friendly
atmosphere offering you practical training and support to help manage the day-to-day challenges of being a parent.
Covering topics such as building strong foundations, communication between parent and child and setting boundaries, the
first course is aimed at parents with children under 11 years old, and the second for parents with teenagers.

Foundry Lane during term time. From the Soft Play Area and
the ride-on toys to the story time and singing, theres loads for
your little one to enjoy and explore at Little Builders!

8-18s Adventure Playground, Broadfield
Escape Youth Drop In runs on Sunday afternoons from
2-6pm and is for young people from Broadfield aged 8-18
years old. It is a place to relax, chill out and play pool and
other games while meeting new people and having fun.
Escape Youth Club runs on Monday nights at the Adventure
Playground, Broadfield. From 5-7pm Escape is for 8-11 year
olds and from 7-9pm it is for 11-18s. For more info contact

OF PRAYER
& FASTING

We’re starting the year with 40 Days of Prayer and
Fasting. These will be 40 Days to devote ourselves to God
as first in our lives, 40 Days to fast from the things that
take first place, 40 Days to strengthen family, friends and
Church life.
Were kicking off this time together with four Encounter Nights
at Foundry Lane, Horsham from 5-8th January. Throughout the
40 days there will be early morning prayer as well as other
Encounter Nights, the Vision Evening and a big celebration to
round it all off on 13th February. Lets start the year as we

LOOKING AT?

“Emergency! Emergency! All hands on deck. People’s lives are
going down. The sea of darkness has overtaken them, people are
drowning in their own sin but many don’t realise it. The power of
death is overcoming them. They need rescuing. They need saving.
Who will go? Who will respond?”
As I sat down the other day and started to ask God to speak to me
about who He is these words echoed around my head along with
the sound of alarm bells. It was not the answer I was expecting to
hear. I thought He was going to say something about Himself, His
nature or character, something that would cause me to respond
and worship Him. Yet, He did say something about Himself this is
the cry of His heart, His longing, His passion is for the people He
does not yet have in relationship with Him. He showed me the
desperation of what He sees going on in peoples lives and what
He wants to do about it.
Its a wake-up call a call to action. Its like a shout from heaven,
“Do you see them? Can you hear their cries? Will you go for Me?”
In Luke chapter 14, Jesus told a parable about a man who invited
many guests to a great banquet but, one by one, they gave their
excuses as to why they couldnt come. He became angry at this
and told his servants to go quickly to the streets and alleys of the
town to bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame. His
servants replied that they had already done that, but there was still
room for more. He then told them to go further and compel people
to come so that his house would be full and the people would enjoy
the banquet that he had prepared for them.
In Luke chapter 15, Jesus tells another parable, “Suppose one of
you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave
the ninety-nine and go after the lost one until he finds it? Or the women
who had ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp,
sweep the house and search till she finds it?”
At the end of these parables Jesus says that there is more
rejoicing in heaven over one sinner that repents than over many
righteous people that do not need to repent. We see from these
stories that God wants to get our attention; He wants us to see
what He sees and to look at what He is looking at people.
People that dont yet know Him.
Have you ever lost your keys or your wallet? It can be very frustrating,
cant it? Suddenly all of your attention is set on finding whatever it is
that youve lost. Imagine if you lost one of your children - the whole
world would have to stop, you would let everyone know so they could
join in the desperate search to find them! You wouldnt leave a stone
unturned until you got them back.
This is Gods heart for those that are lost and need saving, for
the people that He does not yet have. God was so set upon
rescuing people out of darkness that He sent His Son, Jesus
Christ, to make a way for them to know Him: “For God so loved
the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in
Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His
Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world
through Him” (John 3:16).
Jesus reiterated this when He said of Himself “For the Son of Man
came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). If this was
Jesus priority, His mandate from heaven while He was here on
earth, how much more should it be ours as we seek to follow in His
footsteps and do the will of our heavenly Father?
One day Jesus said to His disciples “Wake up and look around you.
The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good
wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life”
(John 4:35-36 NLT). Later on He instructed His disciples saying
“Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His
harvest field” (Matthew 9:37). Gods looking for workers who He
can send out into every sphere of society to reach those who dont
know Him yet.
As followers of Christ were called to fulfil the Great Commission
which He gave to His disciples just before ascending into Heaven:
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19).
Let’s respond to this Great Commission to be the workers
that find the lost, make disciples and bring them to the
banquet that is waiting for them. As a result there will be
great rejoicing in heaven, but also great rejoicing on earth
as well.

Worship, Word and Wonders are three words that
describe Faith Camp. Thousands of people come
together from all over the world to share life with one
another and celebrate Jesus! From our 0-2 year olds in
Tiny Treasures all the way up to the adults in the Big
Event it’s fantastic to see people encounter God and get
an understanding of God’s heart for His purposes in
their own communities.
Faith Camp is a self-catering family camp held at the
Peterborough Arena with 7 different age groups for children
from 0-18 and then the BIG Event for the adults. We also
have an exciting seminar programme that runs throughout
the afternoons with a choice of excellent speakers.

Faith Camp couldn’t happen without the
huge army of volunteers who give
countless hours of their time each year to
make it such a success.
From the Arena stewards to the catering team
and the childrens workers to the afternoon
sports co-ordinators there are hundreds of
jobs to be done before, during and after the
week itself.
Its fantastic to know that Faith Camp has
been a life-changing week for thousands of
people for over 30 years, and its a huge
honour for us as a Church to be able to
sayits our camp!
Congregation members from right across the
region are the backbone of the team that
makes Faith Camp happen. This year were
holding a special Volunteer Day on Saturday
9th May at Foundry Lane where well come
together and hear all about the vision and
heart for Faith Camp 2015 and pray for those
wholl be coming this year.

SMALL
GROUPS
A place to connect, relate and grow together
One of the key ingredients that make up an effective Church
is the strength and depth of the relationships that are
developed between those within it and one of the ways this
is expressed among us is through Small Groups. Small
Groups provide a framework and environment where the
masks of our lives can be peeled away and we find space to
build truly lasting relationships.
Since we launched Small Groups at the start of 2014 there have
been 3 core values that define the purpose of each Group:
Connect - new people
Relate - build lasting relationships
Grow - in our faith, witness and leadership
To help us understand the importance of Small Groups in the life
of the Church, God has been speaking to us through Exodus
chapter 6 where we can see how He works in people’s lives to
move them from where they are to where He wants them to be.
Therefore, say to the Israelites: “I am the Lord, and I will bring you
out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being
slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and
with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as My own people, and
I will be your God.” (Exodus 6:6-7)
There are four key steps to what God did:
1. I will bring you out - salvation
2. I will free you - deliverance which brings freedom
3. I will redeem you - to know your redemptive purpose
4. I will take you as My people and be your God
- living in fulfilment and being fruitful
What does this show us? God wants lost people saved, saved
people free, free people to know their redemptive purpose
and a people of purpose to be fulfilled and fruitful.
Firstly, God wants lost people saved. I will bring you out of Egypt is
a parallel to bringing people out of sin into forgiveness and
salvation. Going forward, Sundays, as well as Small Groups, will
have a greater emphasis on people being saved as we seek to
bring life-giving messages that will help people respond to Jesus.
Secondly, I will free you is God wanting saved people to be free.
As well as getting the Israelites out of Egypt, He wanted to get
Egypt out of them. This is where God sets people free from the
past to live in the good of what He has done for them by building
them up in the truth of His Word. As well as people finding freedom
through the Word, they are also set free through relationship in
the body. Small Groups are a key place for this to happen.
Thirdly, I will redeem you talks of Gods desire for every believer
to know their redemptive purpose, to know what they are called
to and to know what they are giving their lives for. The Discover
Course is designed to help you understand what that is and how
to move into it, so if youve not been on the course then come
along to the next one at whichever congregation youre part of.
Forthly, I will take you as My own people and I will be your God is
about understanding that we are part of something bigger than
ourselves, we are part of His Church the body of Christ. In being
Gods people we work out our redemptive purpose with others
and find fulfilment and fruitfulness together. As well as this
happening in a Small Group this also happens through being
part of a team on a Sunday to help to Build the House.
We see from these four steps a pathway of growth for
every person in being the disciple God wants us to be. That
is what is at the heart of who we are as a Church and
therefore at the heart of Small Groups, being a place to
connect, relate and grow - seeing people saved, set free,
finding their purpose and being fruitful.
