A Day at the Art Table: Beginners Quilts
The Monday/Wednesday/Friday and
the Tuesday/Thursday Beginners
classes have made class quilts for the
very first time in LRS history. They
expressed their creativity with brightly
colored brush strokes.
Quilters:
Beginners students, Monica Sin,
Annette Thompson and Susan Wahl
Sunset at the Seashore: Nursery West Quilt
The Nursery West students hand-painted adorable sea
creatures that decorate a colorful seashore, a subject they
explored at the beginning of the school year. This quilt will
provide hours of entertainment—all creatures are held by Velcro
and can be removed and replaced throughout the seashore.
Quilters: Nursery West students, Monica Sin, Annette Thompson
and Corie Lepanto.
Look at Me!: Nursery East Quilt
Nursery East students literally walk you around their gallery
of colorful self-portraits in this one-of-a-kind quilt.
Quilters: Nursery East students,
Judy Heiland and Tatiana Mori.

Jumping for Joy!: K-1 Quilt
As part of their year-long study theme, Art and Artists, the K-1 children
worked together to replicate a Matisse painting from 1950 which
depicts a festive dancer leaping against a colorful background of a
collage-style painting. The Kindergarten class painted the 12
background squares in collage style: then the First Graders used felt
and cloth to design the figure of a dancer in the foreground.
Quilters: K-1 students, Gail Worthington and
Donna Volpitta
Medieval Tapestry: 2-3 Quilt
Dulcimer Orchestra: 4-5 Quilt
The All-School Performance is over, but the
memory of the 4-5 Dulcimer Orchestra will
live on with this quilt. Each student has a
personalized dulcimer with embellishments of
foil arranged on the LRS stage…this quilt is a
must.
Quilters: 4-5 students, Susan Bralower and
Terran Whittingham.
Work in Progress
Inspired by the 2-3 class trip to the Cloisters, this
gorgeous quilt in rich reds, golds and greens is a
menagerie of mythical beasts and animals based
on original medieval pictures. Each student in 2-
3 painstakingly hand-carved his/her animal or
beast and then printed it onto a linen quilt
square. You will never tire looking at this regal
tapestry hanging in your castle!
Quilters: 2-3 students, Chyi Landless, Elena Sirota,
Terran Whittingham, and Leslie Williamson.
