The group’s chief operating officer, Jason van Hooft, said the company
was the largest builder and developer in the Surat Basin area and its
“What is happening less than four hours west of Brisbane is a largely
untold story and it has only just begun,” he said.
developing world-class reserves for
domestic and international supply.
Almost 9000 staff and contractors
work for us in central and southern
Queensland.
Our priority development is QCLNG
– one of Australia’s biggest capital
infrastructure projects and the world’s
first liquefied natural gas project
based on gas from coal seams.
From left, Jason van Hooft, Colin West, Brad Lister, and Greg West
QGC will be working across the Surat Basin
for many years to come and aims to create
lasting benefits for the local community.
“Surat Basin Property Group is delighted to be able to help QGC
meet its residential housing needs at a time where accommodation
is scarce and rental demand is high,” Mr van Hooft said.
“The whole Surat Basin is undergoing an evolution linked to the
resources sector which will see it continue to grow and prosper for
decades to come.”
QGC is investing a total of more than A$60 million project-wide as
part of its integrated housing strategy, which aims to ease housing
pressures during the construction of QCLNG.
The homes being built by the Surat Basin Property Group are due
for completion by the end of 2013 and will accommodate staff
and increase housing stock to help ensure a balance of supply and
demand in Chinchilla and Miles.
Where possible, the contractors will use local suppliers and
tradespeople to build and fit out the homes.
QGC will be working across the Surat Basin for many years to come
and aims to create lasting benefits for the local community.
QCLNG involves significantly
expanding QGC’s operations in
the Surat Basin and transporting
the gas via a 540km underground
pipeline network to Curtis Island, off
Gladstone, where it will be cooled to a
liquid for transport by ship.
QGC also supplies about 20 per cent
of Queensland’s gas demand through
our existing domestic gas business.
