Washington and New York
LAJC President Jack Terpins, together with WJC leadership, met
the ICJP which was meeting in NY to discuss the PA's unilateral
statehood bid. Floriano Pesaro of the Sao Paulo Municipal
Council in Brazil was also present at the meeting.
OCTOBER
Asunción
Pablo Gabe, of New Generations Argentina, attended the Ibero-
American Meeting of Religious Leaders, held in the framework of the
Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State.
Melina Rozenbaum, also of New Generations Argentina, participated in
the Ibero-American Civic Meeting, representing the LAJC, where she
met with Alejo Ramirez, from the Ibero-American Youth Organization.
Brasilia
LAJC president Jack Terpins and CONIB (Brazilian Jewish
Community) president Claudio Lottenberg met with
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff. Rousseff greeted the
Brazilian Jewish community on the New Year and talked
about the current political situation in the Middle East,
she stressed that an independent Palestinian state can
only exist alongside an Israeli state with secure borders.
Terpins and Lottenberg also met vice president Michel
Temer.
Buenos Aires
Claudio Epelman met Juan Bitelli and Thiago Melamed, Minister and Secretary of the Brazilian
embassy in Argentina, to talk about an activity on discrimination on the Internet.
Epelman, together with DAIA and AMIA directors and the coordinator of the Observatorio Web
program, held a meeting with Alberto Arebalos, director of Google for global communications &
public affairs, Latin America.
Gabriel Buznick and Alejandro Kelman from New
Generations, participated of the meeting of
commemoration of the World Day of Prayer for Peace of
1986 in Assisi, by Pope John Paul II. Buznick also
participated in the meeting of the Jewish-Christian
Fraternity.
