Maui Jim Brings Champion Anglers to Special Event at ICAST 2012
Peoria, IL, May 4, 2012 – During ICAST 2012 in Orlando, FL, Maui Jim ® Inc., the fastest
growing manufacturer of premium polarized sunglasses, will host a special event on July 12
from 4 to 6 PM in the company’s booth (#915) where four of the world’s top anglers will offer
demonstrations and insights into their fishing secrets. The fishermen include the winner of the
2011 World Cup Blue Marlin Championship, the world record holder for catching Marlin in a
kayak, host of the national “Reel Animals Fishing Show,” and a U.S. Coast Guard Master
Captain.
Co-Captain of the winning 2011 World Cup Blue Marlin team, Seth Kizel is known for his
knowledge of Hawaiian waters and his expertise in finding and reeling in some of the biggest
fish ever caught. He started his non-stop winning record in 2009 by piloting the boat that won
the Wahine Jackpot Fishing Tournament with a 366.6-pound blue marlin. He is known as a
master of timing, knowing when to let the fish run, and when to lock it up. Captain Seth made a
name for himself again in 2010 when a 725.2-pound blue marlin was raised from 130 fathoms of
water off the coast of Maui as a result of using the famed Seth Kizel Glitter Bullet Lure from a
short rigger position. Since that time, the trophies continued to roll in. In winning the 2011 World
Cup Blue Marlin Championship, Captain Seth put his name in the history books for reeling in the
largest marlin in history at 729-pounds. For long days on the water, Captain Seth wears Peahi
sunglasses from Maui Jim because of the 9 layers of proprietary PolarizedPlus2® protection
from glare and UV rays.
Captain George Gozdz is a resident of Jensen Beach, FL, and is known for his vast knowledge
of Indian River game fish. A U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain, George’s saltwater fishing
career spans more than a decade of guiding celebrity anglers and charter clients at Flatlined
Charters. He approaches each fishing trip with intensity and fun. He also shares his expertise in
presentations at Florida Sportsman Fishing Shows, local tackle shops and established fishing
clubs on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Over the years, he’s become increasingly dedicated to
fishing conservation, donating charter trips to support the Coastal Conservation Association and
other local and national charities. Captain Gozdz wears Maui Jim Peahi sunglasses with Maui
HT lenses that are designed for fishing in everyday variable conditions, but particularly enhance
definition and brightness on darker days or in murky water. “When I am on the water, I strive to
be the best. I expect the same from my gear, and that’s why I wear Maui Jim.”
Captain Mike Anderson grew up in Oshkosh, WI, but has become an expert at fishing for
Snook, redfish, tarpon, cobia and trout in the Tampa Bay, FL, area since 1990. In early 2000,
Captain Mike started Thunderbay Charters Service and is a professional tournament fisherman,
currently competing in the Ranger/Mercury Redfish Tour and Southern Redfish Trail. On
Sunday mornings, Captain Mike can be heard on 620 WDAE The Sports Animals, Tampa’s
leading sports radio station. The “Reel Animals Fishing Show,” known as the fishing show “with
an edge,” features conversations with veteran charter captains along the Gulf and Atlantic
waters for a variety of sport and game fish. Captain Mike also contributes to a number of
charitable organizations including Boys & Girls Club of Tampa, Children's Miracle Network and
the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
No one will ever forget the 2011 footage from The Kayak Fishing Show on the World Fishing
Network when Host and ocean kayaking fishing expert, Jim Sammons, caught a large tuna off
the coast of New Zealand, only to have it snapped from his hands by a giant shark. Extreme
fishing experiences are what distinguish Sammons. A San Diego native and certified fish- and
game-licensed guide, he holds the record for landing the first, and only, California-caught Marlin
from a kayak, as well as Striped Marlin and Sail Fish in Baja. Jim also holds the current record
for the largest Dorado from a kayak, a bull of over 60 pounds. He has landed Thresher sharks
up to two hundred pounds and, a personal best, a Yellowtail of forty-one pounds, all while
fishing the La Jolla coast from his ocean kayak. During his fishing adventures, Jim wears Maui
Jim’s MauiPassport® prescription Peahi and Longboard sunglasses, “The sun is really bright on
the ocean. Peahi and Lonboard have protection from the wide temples, and the glare reduction
cuts rays from the back and front of each lens. They’re really comfortable,” said Jim.
Maui Jim, Inc. ® is the fastest growing premium polarized sunglass maker in the world. The
company’s reputation is based on the development of advanced lens technologies that reduce
100 percent of harmful UVA and UVB rays and cut glare from above, below and behind each
lens by 99.9 percent. Maui Jim uses up to 9 layers of protection built into each lens, including
the company’s proprietary polarized film, PolarizedPlus ® 2, that produces true, vivid colors. Maui
Jim was voted favorite sunglasses company and best sunglasses for women by optical retailers
and readers of Vision Monday, 20/20 Magazine and Eye Care Products magazine in 2011. Visit
