Transportation: artists were given choices outlined on the entry form. Transportation and
insurance is at artists’ own cost. Artists were given suggested arts transportation companies to liaise
with (International Arts Services is our preferred carrier); this way the company coordinates
delivery and is aware of the deadlines and conservation requirements. Some artists preferred to post
their artwork or hand deliver, both of which they do at their own risk.

How the gallery deals with promotion and marketing
The Gallery devised a marketing plan, working within the budget negotiated with Council, and booked
in advance advertising spaces in key publications. Because this is the inaugural prize, the Gallery did not
have any previous winner’s image to utilise in marketing and promotion and so the marketing campaign
was more graphic and information based.
The Publicist works closely with the curator to develop the media releases for both the launch of the
prize (and call for entries) as well as the announcement of the winner. The judging is undertaken one day
prior with the final results embargoed until following the announcement to ensure copy deadlines are
met.
