Timber produced through
woodland management is sawn
using a mobile sawmill,
transforming the trees into planks
before they leave Trust land, thus
reducing fuel miles. Once sawn
into the sizes required, the planks
are delivered to the project
partners. Whenever possible the
people using the timber are
encouraged to visit the woodlands
to learn where it comes from and
why it was felled.
During the year, we:
◆ Used our own larch from Haywood 2004 thinning for 48
bollards at Maws Meadow and at Coalport.
◆ Donated timber to Ironbridge Woodland Products Partners -
William Brookes and Ercall Wood schools, Queen Alexander
College,TCAT and CARE

Provided a one-off donation to Dark Lane Pre-school,
Broseley so that they could construct benches
Worked with CARE and the Soil Association Woodmark to
develop a ‘chain of custody’ process to allow CARE to label
products made with Trust timber as being made from
sustainably managed woodland.
Produced a label and sticker that is now put on all CARE
products made from Trust timber which explains where the
timber has come from and how it has been produced.
