report back to you on what has happened at
ancotel and in Frankfurt am Main over the last
few weeks.

What advantages can the participants or even the TC industry draw from

WiTCOM feiert zehnjähriges

sehr gut ausgebaute RegioNetz, die konsequente Ausrichtung auf Telcos und
Businesskunden sowie eine starke Mannschaft sind die Basis für den Erfolg
der WiTCOM. Mittlerweile vertrauen nationale und internationale Carrier und
ISPs sowie namhafte Unternehmen auf die Leistungen der WiTCOM.

Der „zehnte Geburtstag“ – für WiTCOM ein guter Grund, sich bei ihren
Kunden und Partnern für die langjährige Treue und gute Zusammenarbeit
zu bedanken. Das Unternehmen lud zu einem sommerlichen Abend in lateinamerikanischem
Ambiente in das ESWE Atrium ein. Eine interessante
Beleuchtung und Stretchsegel unter der Decke sorgten für eine wohlige
WiTCOM celebrates 10 years
of existence in Wiesbaden
Since 1997 WiTCOM has supplied the Hessian state capital of Wiesbaden
and the Rheingau-Main-Taunus region with high-performance data services.
The success of WiTCOM is based on the very well developed RegioNetz, the
consistent focus on Telcos and business clients, and a strong team. Now,
the services of WiTCOM are relied on by national and international carriers
and ISPs as well as well-known companies.
They benefit from the regional know-how of WiTCOM, the flexibility and
reliability of the team, their personal service and transparent processes –
whether for a data connection or for processing complex projects.
WiTCOM runs its own SDH, IP and MPLS networks. The use of state-of-theart
technology such as WDM allows band widths of up to 10 Gbit/s. Opening
several POPs, including in
, also puts the German telecommunications
capital of Frankfurt “on the RegioNetz”.
The service portfolio for Telcos ranges from local loop to the construction of
an independent POP location in the WiTCOM data centre and the realisation
of individual projects such as backup and redundancy concepts. The last
mile to the client as well as HVt and PoI connections can be realised with no
problem, as WiTCOM has tapped into all HVT within its supply area. Here,
the products available include permanent circuit connections and Ethernet /
RZ couplings. Providing the carrier / ISP is not represented in Wiesbaden,
the transfer is made at POP locations such as in .
The “tenth birthday” – a good reason for WiTCOM to thank clients and partners
for their longstanding loyalty and good collaboration. The company
issued invitations to a summer evening in a Latin American ambience in the
ESWE Atrium. Interesting lighting and stretch sails under the roof provided
a cosy atmosphere. The guests were able to relax in seating corners under
trees and at illuminated bar tables or to stroll around the Atrium. The scene
was rounded off by a cocktail bar and a delicious flying buffet. Show contri-

Cocktailbar und ein köstliches Flying Buffet rundeten das Bild ab. Showeinlagen,
wie Auftritte der Band „Cuba Unplugged“ und einer Sambatanzformation,
sorgten für einen kurzweiligen Abend. Die zahlreichen Gäste aus Wirtschaft
und regionaler Politik zeigten sich begeistert von der Veranstaltung.
Diese endete in den Morgenstunden des nächsten Tages – für WiTCOM ein
Indiz für einen gelungenen Start in zehn erfolgreiche nächste Jahre.

their enjoyment of the event.
It ended in the early hours of the following day – an indication for WiTCOM
of a successful start to a further ten successful years.

nächsten vier Jahren. Durch den Austausch von Kupferkabeln gegen Glasfaserkabel
wird Türk Telekom ihre Zugangskapazitäten 1.000-fach erhöhen.
Türk Telekom plant auch den Start eines Projekts zur Umgestaltung, das über
81 Städte in der Türkei abdecken wird und bis zum Jahr 2010 Jobmöglichkeiten
für über 101.000 Menschen bietet.
Im Rahmen eines zweiten Projekts mit dem Ziel, Telefonanschluss- und Breitbandinternetservices
bereitzustellen, wird Türk Telekom neue Technologien
ausbauen; die Systeme werden vielfältig eingesetzt, unter anderem für Voice
over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Internet Protocol
Television (IPTV). Das Projekt wird voraussichtlich im November 2008 abgeschlossen
sein.

investment over the next four years. By replacing copper wires with fibreoptic

1,000 times. Turk Telekom is also planning to start a transformation project,
which will cover 81 cities in Turkey and provide job opportunities for
101,000 people by 2010. Within the context of the second project, the aim is
to offer telephone connections encompassing broadband Internet services.
Turk Telekom will provide new technology systems that will serve multiple
purposes and will offer a number of services, which will include voice over
Internet protocol (VoIP), digital subscriber line (DSL) and Internet protocol
television (IPTV). The project is expected to be complete in November 2008.

ancotel soccer cup
Ab 15 Uhr trafen am Samstag, den 18. August, die ancotel Mitarbeiter mit
Kind und Kegel auf dem Sportplatz der SG Nassau-Diedenbergen zum ancotel
soccer cup ein. Neben Vereinsheim, runder Getränkebar und offenem Bembeltempel
war ein großes, an zwei Seiten offenes weißes Zelt aufgebaut, wo
man an Tischen und Bänken Platz nehmen konnte. Auf dem Rasen gab es
Sonnenschirme, ein paar Bänke und die roten ancotel Strandlaken für die
Kids zum Spielen. Es waren eine ganze Menge Kinder da, die alle ihre
Beschäftigung hatten: mit ancotel Fußbällen, Luftballons, von denen bis zu
18 Stück aneinandergereiht wurden und die den Himmel beherrschten, einzeln
in die Luft stiegen oder an den Ästen der Bäume hängen blieben, oder mit
Haribo-Naschwerk, frischer Eiscreme aus dem Eiswagen, superfrischen
Schokoküssen, diversen Kuchen von großen Backblechen, Keksen und
anderem Kleingebäck.

From 3 p.m. on Saturday 18 August, ancotel employees took kith and kin
and met on the SG Nassau-Diedenbergen sports field for the ancotel football
cup. In addition to a club house, round drinks bar and open cider bar, a
marquee was also erected which was open on two sides and where seating
was available with tables and benches. On the lawn, there were sunshades,
a few benches and the red ancotel beach towels for the kids to play. A large
number of children were present, all of whom had something to do: with
ancotel footballs, hot-air balloons that were arranged up to 18 in a row and
dominated the sky, rose into the air individually or hung in the branches of
the trees. There were Haribo sweets, fresh ice cream from the ice cream
cart, super-fresh chocolate coverings, various cakes from large baked
products to biscuits and other small items. The ancotel versus Froschauer

Ab 16 Uhr startete das Fußballspiel ancotel gegen Steuerbüro Froschauer/
Rechtsanwaltskanzlei Truelsen & Collegen; fast alle Besucher feuerten lautstark
und teilweise mit Fanfaren und ohrenbetäubenden Tröten die Spieler
an. Leider verlor ancotel mit 2 : 5.
Richtig unglücklich war aber keiner, denn die Spieler haben sich sehr eingesetzt,
manche wurden leider lädiert. Im Nachhinein gab dann RA Heinrich
4 p.m., with almost everyone present loudly cheering the players – some
with horns and deafening instruments. Unfortunately, ancotel lost 2:5.
However, nobody was really unhappy, as the players have done their best,
although some were unfortunately injured. Afterwards, RA Heinrich Truelsen
announced over the microphone and loudspeaker that his team started the
match convinced that ancotel would be ahead. The result was unexpected.

Truelsen via Mikrofon und Lautsprecher bekannt, sein Team sei mit der Überzeugung
ins Spiel gegangen, dass ancotel die Nase vorn haben würde. Den
späteren Ausgang habe man nicht vorhergesehen. Allerdings schlich sich der
Eindruck ein, dass das Team Steuerbüro/Rechtsanwaltskanzlei trickreich zu
Werke ging. Drei der Spieler waren nämlich eingekauft: Sie waren weder
Anwälte noch Steuerberater und auch nicht bei diesen beschäftigt. Stattdessen
handelte es sich um aktive, junge, kräftige Fußballspieler mit sehr
viel Ballerfahrung: Freunde von Töchtern der Steuerbüro/Rechtsanwaltskanzlei-Mannschaft.
Managing Director Udo Müller überreichte den großen
Pokal, den man besser als Wanderpokal bezeichnen kann, und zeigte sich als
guter Verlierer.
Nach dem Spiel gings in die Duschen, danach zu den Getränken und zum
Fachsimpeln über das Spiel – das kennt man ja. Langsam kam dann bei den
Spielern der Hunger auf. Das Catering war vorbereitet. Kleine Schlangen bildeten
sich im Bembeltempel, wo das kalt-warme Buffet aufgebaut worden war.
Im Zelt und an der Getränkebar hielten sich die Gäste am längsten auf – mit
Smalltalk beim Essen und vor allem Trinken. Project Managerin Corporate
Culture Christine Kloos-Martin war stets auf Achse und organisierte mal
hier, mal dort, fasste viel selbst mit an – vielen Dank an dieser Stelle für die
Organisation dieses gelungenen Events.
Nonetheless, we gained the impression that the accountants’ / solicitors’
team had been a little devious. Three of their players had been bought: they
were neither solicitors nor accountants, nor did they work for either. These
were in fact active, young, strong footballers with a great deal of ball experience;
friends of daughters of the accountants’ / solicitors’ team. Managing
Director Udo Müller handed over the large cup, which is better described as
a challenge cup and proved that he was also a good looser.
After the match, the players showered then enjoyed drinks
and chat about the match – we all know how it works!
Hunger then crept in amongst the players.

formed in the cider bar, where the hot and
cold buffet had been set up.
In the marquee and at the drinks bar, the
guests entertained each other with small talk
whilst they were eating and particularly drinking!

Heimspiel Ukraine
Director Business Development Michael Böhlert, Area Manager Eastern Europe
Lydia Schröder und Senior Service Technician Georgi Barski besuchten vom
21. bis 23. August das Symposium „Telecommunications without borders“ in
Odessa, Ukraine. Die Veranstaltung wurde von der Odessa National Academy
of Telecommunications veranstaltet und durch das TCBS Organization Committee
eröffnet, bei dem sich ancotel durch Michael Böhlert vorstellen durfte.
Wie Sie bereits in der letzten goodnews online erfahren konnten, wird bei
den TCBS-(Trans-Caspian-/Black-Sea-)Konferenzen über die Verbesserung der
Traffic-Delivery in Regionen in Kaukasusländern, zentralasiatischen Ländern,
Kasachstan und China diskutiert.
Tags darauf wurden Plenarsitzungen und Vorträge für die Teilnehmer geboten.
Am letzten Tag wurden beim TCBS-Meeting weitere Details der Alternativstrecke
von Asien nach Europa diskutiert und weitere Fortschritte im Prozess
gemacht. Ferner gab es auch eine sehr interessante Diskussion zum Panel
„Creation of non-profit Organization of VoIP providers (Big VoIP)“.
Zum Abschluss wurde ein Dinner im Londons’ka-Bristol Hotel veranstaltet,
das von ancotel gesponsert wurde und bei dem es auch Livemusik zu hören gab.
Vielen Dank an die Organisatoren des Symposiums und für die ancotel Rumkugeln,
die es beim Abschlussdinner gab – eine tolle Überraschung! ancotel
freut sich schon auf die Veranstaltung im nächsten Jahr.
Ukraine home game
Business Development Director Michael Böhlert, Eastern Europe Area
Manager Lydia Schröder and Senior Service Technician Georgi Barski attended
the “Telecommunications without borders” symposium from 21 to 23
August in Odessa, Ukraine. The event was organised by the Odessa National
Academy of Telecommunications and opened by the TCBS organisation
committee, with the opportunity for an introduction to ancotel by Michael
Böhlert.
As was already reported in the last goodnews, discussions are being held
at the TCBS (Trans Caspian / Black Sea) conferences about the improvement
of the traffic delivery to regions in Caucasus countries, central Asian
countries, Kazakhstan and China.
The next day, plenary sessions and talks were offered for the participants.
On the last day, further details of the alternative route from Asia to Europe
were discussed at the TCBS meeting and further advances made in the
process. Furthermore, a very interesting discussion was held regarding the
“Creation of non-profit Organization of VoIP providers (Big VoIP)” panel.
A closing dinner was organised in the Londons’ka-Bristol hotel, which was
sponsored by ancotel and where there was also live music to listen to.
Many thanks to the organisers of the symposium and for the ancotel rum
balls which were at the leaving dinner – a brilliant surprise! ancotel is
already looking forward to the event next year.

Sarah gibt den Takt vor –
Zuwachs im Team Infrastructure
Die Frankfurterin Sarah Pooch ist seit dem 1. Juli Teamassistentin im Team
Infrastructure und unterstützt nun Senior Project Manager Andreas Schulz
und sein Team im administrativen und organisatorischen Bereich. Die
20-Jährige hat ihre Ausbildung zur Bürokauffrau erfolgreich abgeschlossen
und wird nun bei ancotel voll durchstarten.
Sarah lebt zusammen mit ihrem Freund in Dreieich. Die beiden unternehmen
in ihrer Freizeit viel gemeinsam, gehen klettern, fahren Kanu, kochen oder
besuchen im Sommer Open-Air-Veranstaltungen – besonders die, auf denen
diverse DJs elektronische Musik auflegen. Ihre zwei Leguane, Eugen und
Dicke, liegen ihr besonders am Herzen. Sie wohnen in einem 4 x 4 m großen
Terrarium in der Wohnung von Sarah und ihrem Freund und genießen
immer die besondere Aufmerksamkeit, wenn Gäste zu Besuch kommen.

growth in the Infrastructure team
Frankfurter Sarah Pooch has been the Team Assistant in the Infrastructure
team since 1 July, supporting Senior Project Manager Andreas Schulz and
his team in the area of administration and organisation. The 20-year-old has
successfully completed her training as an office administrator and now
takes up a full position at ancotel.
Sarah lives in Dreieich with her boyfriend. The couple do a lot together in
their free time – climbing, canoeing, cooking or visiting open air events in
the summer and particularly events at which various DJs play electronic
music. She is especially fond of her two iguanas, Eugen and Dicke. They
live in a 4x4m terrarium in Sarah and her boyfriend’s flat, always enjoying
the special attention when guests come to visit.

Benjamin Pawlowicz heißt der neue Junior Service Technician bei ancotel
und unterstützt das Team Technique beim Ausführen der Kundenaufträge.
Der gelernte Fliesenleger hat eine Umschulung zum IT-Systemelektroniker
gemacht und nimmt seit dem 1. Juli die Verschaltungen für die ancotel
Kunden vor.
Der 30-jährige gebürtige Mannheimer lebt in Kelsterbach und beschäftigt
sich gern an seinem PC, spielt Computerspiele, fährt Fahrrad oder geht zur
Entspannung angeln. Außerdem hat er ein großes Herz für Tiere – zuletzt hat
er einen Wurf neugeborener Katzen vor der Hitze des Sommers 2006 gerettet
und sich um sie gekümmert.

Benjamin supports the team technique
Benjamin Pawlowicz is the name of the new Junior Service Technician at
ancotel, supporting the team technique in executing client orders. This
trained tiler changed his career to become an IT systems electrician and
has been dealing with connections for ancotel customers since 1 July.
The 30-year-old who was born in Mannheim now lives in Kelsterbach and
enjoys working on his PC, playing computer games, cycling or fishing for
relaxation. He is also a big animal lover – he recently saved a litter of newly
born kittens from the summer heat in 2006 and looked after them. Benjamin

Heinrich Sterz weiß, was Kunden wollen
Der 29-jährige Heinrich Sterz unterstützt seit dem 16. Juli das Team Business
Development als Area Manager. Heinrich ist in Fergana, Usbekistan, geboren
und beherrscht daher neben der deutschen und englischen auch die russische
Sprache. Mittlerweile wohnt er allerdings in Dauborn bei Limburg an
der Lahn.
Er ist gelernter Hotelfachmann, ist aber seit 1999 in der Telekommunikationsbranche
als Accountmanager tätig und arbeitete bereits für einige Unternehmen
in diesem Geschäftsfeld. Als Area Manager ist er bei ancotel für
die Kundenakquise und die Pflege und Weiterentwicklung der bestehenden
Kundenkontakte verantwortlich. Außerdem berät er die ancotel Kunden und
solche, die es werden wollen, und wirkt bei der Geschäftsentwicklung mit.
Wenn sich Heinrich in seiner freien Zeit nicht mit seiner Perserkatze beschäftigt,
übt er sich in Kampfsportarten wie Boxen und macht Kraftsport. Da kann
er sich mal so richtig abreagieren. Darüber hinaus schwimmt er gerne und

Volker Burghardt – dem Ingenieur ist nichts zu schwör!
Der Diplom-Ingenieur Volker Burghardt ist ebenfalls neu bei ancotel und
unterstützt seit dem 1. Juli das Team Business Development als Senior
Project Manager UK. Volker ist bereits vom hessischen Bad Vilbel nach
London gezogen, um am Standort der ancotel UK Ltd. vor Ort zu sein und
die Kundenbetreuung zu intensivieren. ancotel hat bereits viele Anfragen
bezüglich des ancotel London von dort bekommen und Volker freut
sich nun diese neue Herausforderung anzugehen.
Volker ist gelernter Nachrichtentechnikingenieur, hat bereits für die Deutsche
Telekom, die frühere Bundespost, gearbeitet und war auch bei anderen Telekommunikationsunternehmen
beschäftigt.
Seine Hobbys sind Sport, Gartenarbeit und das Lesen von Büchern über
Religion, Philosophie und Esoterik.

Heinrich Sterz knows what clients want
29-year-old Heinrich Sterz has been supporting the Business Development
team since 16 July, in the capacity of Area Manager. Heinrich was born in
Fergana, Uzbekistan and therefore speaks Russian as well as German and
English. He now lives in Dauborn near Limburg an der Lahn.
He is a trained hotelier, but has worked as an account manager in the telecommunications
industry since 1999, having previously worked for a number
of companies in this sector. As an Area Manager, he is responsible for
client acquisition, maintenance and development of existing client contacts
at ancotel. In addition, he also advises ancotel clients and those who wish
to be ancotel clients and works on business development.
In his free time, when Heinrich is not looking after his Persian cat, he
practises combat sports such as boxing and he does body building.
Here, he is able to completely work off. He also enjoys swimming and
loves rowing.

Volker Burghardt –nothing is too hard for an engineer!
Dipl.-Ing. Volker Burghardt is also new at ancotel and has been supporting
the Business Development team since 1 July, as the UK Senior Project
Manager. Volker has already moved to London from Bad Vilbel in Hesse in
order to be on site at ancotel UK Ltd. and intensify client care. This has already
given rise to numerous enquiries about the ancotel London and Volker
looks forward to taking on this new challenge.
Volker is a trained telecommunications engineer and previously worked for
Deutsche Telekom – which used to be the Bundespost – and other telecommunications
companies.
His hobbies are sport, gardening and reading books on religion, philosophy
and esotericism.
