The week of October 7-11 is
ADM Week...every student,
every day counts!
It’s critical that our students are
here every day, but next week
especially. Ohio school districts
are funded based on attendance–
their “student average daily
membership” or ADM–as
reported to the Ohio Department
of Education during the first
week of October. We need
parent support especially next
week. Please make sure that
your child comes to school on
time and everyday!

Being on time to school is
very important. The beginning
of the school day is the time for
the day’s preparation. Please
make every effort to have your
child to school on time. If your
child is tardy, they will need to
report to the clinic to receive a
tardy slip.
Perfect Attendance means that
your child has been present for a
full day of school which is
8:30-3:00 pm. If your child is
late or leaves school early
(excused or unexcused), the child
does not have perfect attendance.
All visitors must go to the office during school
hours to sign-in and receive a visitor’s badge.
Parents may not visit classrooms or the cafeteria
without making arrangements in advance with the
teacher, Mrs. Thomas, the Principal, or Mrs. Boka,
the Assistant Principal.
Please remember, adults are not available to
supervise your child before 8:15 am or after 3:00
pm. Only students who are eating breakfast may
enter the building at 8:00am.
Transportation changes: Please send a note to
school with your child to indicate the change. If
we do not have a note or a call from the parent, we
will send your child home his/her normal way.
We begin dismissal at 2:50 pm. Please
do not pick your child up before this time
unless there is a doctor’s appointment. You
are asked to wait outside of the building.
The last 10-15 minutes of each day are crucial for

homework directions, passing out messages, and
last minute reminders.
If you have a phone number change, please
notify the office or clinic immediately. Throughout
the year, Mr. Bell and Mrs. Thomas use the Ed
Connect phone system to keep everyone up-to-date
on our current activities. We need your help to
keep this tool of communication working.

Dental Outreach
Program
January 22, 2014
Case Western Reserve’s
outreach program is sponsoring
dental screenings in the Euclid
City School District.
Shoreview’s Elementary
Students in grades KG, 1st and
2nd and any children with
special needs will be on
Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014.
This program provides
preventative measures including
an oral health exam, cleaning,
and fluoride varnish application.
Parents receive a dental
screening report and the child
receives a free spin brush. More

Red Ribbon Week brings
millions of people together to
raise awareness regarding the
need for alcohol and other drug
and violence prevention, early
intervention, and treatment
services. It is the largest, most
visible prevention awareness
campaign observed annually in
the United States. Activities
that the student are invited to
participate in are listed below:
Monday, October 21st
Pledge to live a drug free life!
Wear red to school.
Tuesday, October 22 nd
Put a Cap on Drugs! Wear your
favorite hat to school.
Wednesday, October 23 rd
Sock it to Drugs! Wear a pair of
crazy socks to school.
Thursday, October 24 th
Living Drug Free is No Sweat!
Wear your favorite sweatshirt
and sweatpants to school.
Friday, October 25 th
Believe, Achieve and Succeed!
Dress your best for school day!
If your child will be absent or
tardy, please call 216-797-6504
before 8:30 am to let Mrs.
Tirabassi, our health monitor,
know the reason. If your child
missed school because of a
doctor’s appointment, please
have your child bring the
doctor’s note to the clinic so the
absence may be excused. Please
notify the school as soon as
possible if there is a change in
your home, cell, or work
numbers. This is for you child’s
safety so we are able to reach
you in case of an emergency. If
your child needs to take
medication at school, you need
to obtain a Physician & Parent
Authorization Form to be
completed by you and your
doctor. It is state law that
children CANNOT transport
counter medications. This policy
also includes any over-thecounter
medications. We also
need to have a small, recent
picture of your child to attach
to this form. These forms are
available in the clinic.

meetings or purchasing items
for Market Day and Great
American (cookie dough). Your
support shows that you care.
