PI Welcomes Renewed Federal and<br />
Provincial Investments<br />
Both <strong>the</strong> Government of Canada and <strong>the</strong> Province<br />
of Ontario have recently announced renewed<br />
support of $50 million each for <strong>Perimeter</strong><br />
<strong>Institute</strong>.<br />
The $100 million will support PI’s research,<br />
training and outreach operations. In addition,<br />
<strong>the</strong> Expanding <strong>the</strong> <strong>Perimeter</strong> advancement<br />
campaign is targeting an additional $100 million<br />
in private funds, taking <strong>the</strong> successful publicprivate<br />
partnership to new levels.<br />
At <strong>the</strong> PI Public Lecture held in June, PI Director<br />
Neil Turok publicly thanked government<br />
representatives, saying, “We well appreciate <strong>the</strong><br />
courage it took to renew <strong>Perimeter</strong>’s funding in<br />
<strong>the</strong>se harsh economic times. On behalf of all<br />
of us who are privileged to work at <strong>Perimeter</strong> I<br />
make this pledge to you, and to <strong>the</strong> taxpayers:<br />
we shall continue raising <strong>the</strong> bar and delivering<br />
outcomes that make you proud.”<br />
