Release of Property
All entries must be accompanied with a signed and completed Release of Property which can be found at the
end of these guidelines.
Selection Process – Phase 1
Happy Llama will send an email notification when each entry is received. If all requirements are met, the design
will be entered into the 2011 A Taste of Colorado T‐Shirt Design Contest. Should you receive an email stating
that one of the requirements is not met, you may resubmit a design if times allows. At no point will Happy
Llama or A Taste of Colorado extend the submission deadline of May 15, 2011.
Upon completion of the review process, Happy Llama will present selected designs to festival management.
Selected designs will be the ones deemed to have the most artistic appeal and which motivate festivalgoers to
want to wear and purchase these items. It is at the festival’s sole discretion to choose a design(s) that will
proceed to Phase 2 of the contest. In addition, the festival has the right at its sole discretion not to select a
design to proceed to Phase 2 should it feel there are no entries that meet the design requirements. All artists
will receive communication no later than June 1, 2011, if their design has been selected by the festival to
proceed into the next phase of production for the 2011 festival t‐shirt.
Any design(s) chosen to proceed to Phase 2 will receive the following compensation:
‐ $50 in festival food/drink/ride tickets
‐ Two (2) VIP passes to one of the seven Main Stage shows
Selection Process – Phase 2
The festival may or may not ask for design “tweaks” of artists whose submissions progress to Phase 2 simply for
the purpose of making the design more production‐friendly and/or a better reflection of the festival (this is not
intended to alter or challenge the integrity of the design or artist). We ask that if changes are requested, that
the artist make them in a timely and professional manner. Depending on the scope of the change request, the
festival will give the artist 24‐72 hours to make the necessary changes and email the updated files. This process
may continue until a design is selected to go into production or no design is selected. The final decision on
designs for production will be made no later than June 30, 2011.
Any design(s) chosen to proceed to production will receive the following, in addition to the compensation listed
above from Phase 1:
‐ Name and/or logo recognition at the festival’s onsite souvenir location(s)
‐ Name and /or logo recognition on the festival’s website
‐ Four (4) festival t‐shirts
‐ An additional $100 in festival food/drink/ride tickets
‐ Two (2) additional VIP passes to one of the seven Main Stage shows
‐ $200.00 cash
About A Taste of Colorado
Festival of Mountain and Plain ... A Taste of Colorado stands proud as the end‐of‐summer celebration of
community pride and spirit in the Denver region. Over 500,000 people make the four‐day festival their Labor
Day Weekend celebration and enjoy the offerings of over 50 area food establishments, 280 marketplace artisans
and vendors, six entertainment stages, and educational programs promoting the diverse cultural and western
heritage of the region — all for no admission fee.
Originally named Festival of Mountain and Plain and established in 1895 as a carnival similar to New Orleans’
Mardi Gras, the festival was created to boost the city’s morale and vitality following the silver panic. The event,
unsuccessful in ending Denver’s depression and declining in attendance, folded in 1902 when organizers were
unable to obtain financial support. In 1983, the Downtown Denver Partnership decided to bring back the spirit
of the original festival to commemorate the opening of the 16th Street Mall. The following year, A Taste of
Colorado was added to the Festival of Mountain and Plain name and concept and moved back to Civic Center
Park in Downtown Denver, where the event first began.
We encourage artists to visit our website at www.atasteofcolorado.com for more information about the festival.
