SUPERVISOR, SALES ASSOCIATES<br />
VICTORIA HOSPICE THRIFT BOUTIQUE<br />
FUNCTION:<br />
To assist the <strong>Store</strong> Manager with the daily operations of the Thrift Boutique.<br />
RELATIONSHIPS:<br />
The <strong>Supervisor</strong> is responsible to the <strong>Store</strong> Manager, who reports in turn to<br />
the Director of Development in the <strong>Hospice</strong> Foundation Office.<br />
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:<br />
The <strong>Supervisor</strong> assumes responsibility for the daily operations of the Thrift<br />
Boutique on days when <strong>Store</strong> Manager is off shift; assists the <strong>Store</strong> Manager<br />
with operations during overlapping shifts; and provides holiday/sick relief as<br />
needed.<br />
Daily operations include: overseeing the receiving & sorting donated goods;<br />
preparing and pricing floor merchandise; cash reconciliation & bank<br />
deposits; training and scheduling of new recruits; keeping the workplace<br />
safe, clean & tidy and other duties as required.<br />
The <strong>Supervisor</strong> provides feedback on store operations to the <strong>Store</strong> Manager<br />
on a regular basis, attends scheduled staff meetings, and, as an ambassador<br />
for <strong>Victoria</strong> <strong>Hospice</strong>, ensures that the store is seen as a welcoming and<br />
friendly place in the community<br />
SKILLS, ATTITUDES, KNOWLEDGE:<br />
The <strong>Supervisor</strong> position requires leadership skill, experience in working as<br />
part of a team in a collaborative and supportive manner; and familiarity with<br />
volunteer management.<br />
The ideal applicant will have:<br />
previous retail experience, with an emphasis on merchandising<br />
an ability to assess high end merchandise and price accordingly<br />
able to evaluate and recognize antiques & collectibles<br />
previous cash handling experience<br />
general computer skills
ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing<br />
be organized, cooperative, and problem solving attitude<br />
TIME COMMITMENT:<br />
Minimum of 24 hours per week, plus relief<br />
Training:<br />
orientation to the Thrift Boutique policies and procedures.<br />
occasional in-service and workshops available through the <strong>Victoria</strong><br />
<strong>Hospice</strong>.
