<str<strong>on</strong>g>An</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Interpretive</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Commentary</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> PSALM 19: 7 - 11<br />
By Barry McWilliams<br />
Three passages are significant in c<strong>on</strong>sidering <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Bible. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> key<br />
passage <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Inspirati<strong>on</strong> and Authority <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scripture is <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> course, 2 Tim 3:16,17;<br />
however, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Bible has it's own expositi<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> this truth in two Old Testament passages:<br />
Psalm 19:7-11 (where its purpose is defined) and Psalm 119: 1 - 176 (which teaches<br />
us how to apply and use <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g>.)<br />
7) THE LAW OF THE LORD IS PERFECT, REVIVING THE SOUL.<br />
"LAW" is c<strong>on</strong>sidered in it's widest sense, including all Divine Revelati<strong>on</strong> (both law and<br />
gospel) as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> guide <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Life. Lit.:"That which is taught" - i.e. divine instructi<strong>on</strong>. Cf Psalm<br />
1:2, Psa 119:97. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>re is c<strong>on</strong>veyed here a sense <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> completeness and perfecti<strong>on</strong>. It<br />
brings life to our souls. <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> is a source <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Grace for souls that need reviving.<br />
(Some versi<strong>on</strong>s use "c<strong>on</strong>verting" here). Before <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> can do anything else, we must<br />
be made alive - revived. Cf. Psa 119:29, 77, 174. Even taken in a narrower sense - as<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Moral Law (<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> 10 Commandments), we can derive <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same meaning in that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se<br />
commandments cover every area <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> life in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> both what we should and what we<br />
should not do. (See <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Westminater Shorter Catechism Qsns 39-81.) Christ<br />
summar1zed <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Law in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> loving <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> and loving our neighbor.<br />
THE STATUTES OF THE LORD ARE TRUSTWORTHY, MAKING WISE THE SIMPLE.<br />
"STATUTES" comes from a root word meaning "written" and emphasizes that <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> has been permanently inscribed. Perhaps you could say "Carved in st<strong>on</strong>e".<br />
"Statue" comes from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same latin root. (Note: <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hebrew word used here is usually<br />
"TESTIMONY"; cf. NASV.) <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> word "DECREES" (Psa 119:5) is quite similar in meaning,<br />
remember <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> unchangable decree that put Daniel in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> li<strong>on</strong>'s den. <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> is<br />
nei<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r changing nor vague. We have <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> in a form that can be studied and<br />
reflected up<strong>on</strong> ("MAKING WISE THE SIMPLE" - <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> word "SIMPLE” c<strong>on</strong>tains <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> idea <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
those who are humble and teachable disciples), it is unchanging and completely<br />
trustworthy. Cf Psa 119:24, 99, 125, 144.<br />
8) THE PRECEPTS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT, GIVING JOY TO THE HEART.<br />
"PRECEPT" stresses that which we are resp<strong>on</strong>sible before <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> to carry out. A<br />
"PRECEPT" is a charge stressing our resp<strong>on</strong>sibility, not just to adhere to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> letter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
law, but to be everything <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> has revealed in His will for us to be. (Psa 119:4) True<br />
happiness comes in life when we are living in accordance with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> will <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>. No o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r<br />
way <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> life will make us happy or satisfy <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> desires <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> heart. In a sense, like a<br />
"prescripti<strong>on</strong>" <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> brings healing and joy to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> heart - it's <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> right<br />
medicati<strong>on</strong> for our hearts. cf. Psa 119:45, 93.<br />
THE COMMANDS OF THE LORD ARE RADIANT, GIVING LIGHT TO THE EYES.<br />
"COMMANDS" views <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> word in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s that <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> has placed up<strong>on</strong> us<br />
and emphasizes both <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir authority as coming from our Soveriegn <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
guidence and directi<strong>on</strong> which we find in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>. Thus <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> both<br />
draws our eyes to truth and serves as "a light to our path and a lamp to our feet." (Psa<br />
119:105) cf. 10, 32, 35
9) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS PURE, ENDURING FOREVER.<br />
"FEAR" views <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> our proper resp<strong>on</strong>se to it - "to fear" is to love and<br />
reverence. Unfortunately <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> negative c<strong>on</strong>notati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> our modern usage obscure <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
positive side <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> respect and awe in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> presence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> in view here. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> same awe<br />
carries over into what He has spoken to us. We must receive it as <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> and use it<br />
to cultivate inward piety in our hearts. (Psa 34:9; Prov 1:7; 14:27; 22:4; Isa 33:6.) By<br />
calling it "pure", we are taught that all <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> whe<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r Old or New Testament,<br />
history, prophecy, proverb, commandment or doctrine - is complete and important to<br />
us - we should not neglect any part <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> it - nor should we try to add to it. It is not a<br />
mixture <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> truth and error (as liberalism suggests) - nor <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> obsolete "law" superceded by<br />
Grace. Psalm 119 is commentary <strong>on</strong> using <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> to grow in Christ. What it produces<br />
endures forever. <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> stands firm as so does what it can accomplish in our<br />
hearts.<br />
THE ORDINANCES OF THE LORD ARE SURE AND ALTOGETHER RIGHTEOUS.<br />
"ORDINANCES" is "JUDGMENTS" in some versi<strong>on</strong>s, and in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> NIV "LAWS" in Psa<br />
119. This word c<strong>on</strong>veys <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> idea <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> justice and authority. (Think <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> "ordinances" as<br />
coming from a court <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> law). cf. Deut 1:17; Psa 119:75, 137, 160; Jer 1:16. Hence <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
stress <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir truthfulness (sure) and <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir righteous nature. From a believer's<br />
vantage point, we see <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> justice <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>, which delivered us from our sins through<br />
Christ. In Him, we are pr<strong>on</strong>ounced righteous by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> highest court in heaven or earth. cf.<br />
Psa 119:149, 156. We find security in <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s declared <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> forgiveness and<br />
redempti<strong>on</strong>.<br />
Observe carefully that in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se six descripti<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir<br />
effects <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re is a definite progressi<strong>on</strong>: <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> first "revives", <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n it "makes wise", <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n<br />
it "brings joy" (makes happy), it "gives clear directi<strong>on</strong>", and creates a new attitude <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
heart, established up<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s righteous justice. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>vert becomes a disciple,<br />
rejoicing in Truth, walking obediently, with fear and reverence, finding in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
His <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> security based up<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s declared justice and righteousness.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> is perfect, trustworthy, sure, radiant, right, and pure; altoge<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r righteous<br />
and enduring forever. Hence, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Psalmist's delighted resp<strong>on</strong>se to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g>:<br />
10) THEY ARE MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD, THAN MUCH PURE GOLD.<br />
Earthly treasures are precious and desirable, most <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> all Gold, which doesn't tarnish<br />
or rust. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> eternal life we find <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fered to us in <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> is much more to be desired<br />
and sought.<br />
THEY ARE SWEETER THAN HONEY, THAN HONEY FROM THE COMB.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> sweet and pleasurable things <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> life are nice, but much more <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sweetness and<br />
pleasure <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> knowing <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> and <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> having <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> bitterness <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> sin removed from our hearts.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>re is nourishment in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> to sustain that sweetness day after day.<br />
11) BY THEM IS YOUR SERVANT WARNED;<br />
We are warned by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> our duty, our danger and that <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> al<strong>on</strong>e can deliver<br />
us. <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> is not idle reading, it is a message <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> life and death. In showing us our<br />
sin and our lack <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> holiness it drives us to Christ Jesus for mercy.
IN KEEPING THEM THERE IS GREAT REWARD.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> reward <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> keeping <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> is not a wage, but a l<strong>on</strong>ged for gift. (Rom<br />
6:23) To keep <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s word involves meditating and hiding <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> away in our<br />
hearts, it means we must not neglect it, and must obey it. In embracing <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g>, in<br />
obeying and keeping it, we have <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> best possible reward - our life, our treasure, our<br />
hope is in Christ and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> glory we shall have when we are united fully with Him.<br />
Psalm 119: 1-176 is an acrostic poem with each verse <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> each group <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 8 verses<br />
beginning with a successive letter <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Hebrew Alphabet. 22 groups <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 8 verses each.<br />
Psalm 119 refers to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scriptures in 175 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> its 176 verses- each verse a distinct<br />
reflecti<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> role <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scriptures in bringing us to perfecti<strong>on</strong>. To reflect <strong>on</strong> just <strong>on</strong>e<br />
verse a day would open us and draw us to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scriptures and bey<strong>on</strong>d <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Lord<br />
behind <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m.<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>re are ten words for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Scriptures used in Psalms 19, and 119: Law, used in its<br />
widest sense, including all divine revelati<strong>on</strong> as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> guide <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> life. Testim<strong>on</strong>ies, used to<br />
describe <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s affirmati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> His pers<strong>on</strong> and purpose. (His "record" <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> His dealings with<br />
man.) Ways, used to describe a defined roadway <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Gen 18:19, Isa 55:7f). Precepts,<br />
referring to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> resp<strong>on</strong>sibilities <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g> places <strong>on</strong> His people. Statutes, from a root for<br />
"written" referring to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir permanent inscribed form. Commandments, which looks at<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> covenant in terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s. Judgments, which c<strong>on</strong>veys justice and authority in<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> ordinances. <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g>, c<strong>on</strong>veying <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> power <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>'s spoken word, and ano<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r word<br />
also translated <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> or promises emphasizing <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>’s Covenant <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Grace). Finally,<br />
Way(s) in vs. 15 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Psa 119 meaning a defined path or highway to life.<br />
Some devoti<strong>on</strong>al exercises:<br />
1. Try substituting "<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> Lord Jesus Christ" for any <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> names <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Bible given in<br />
Psalm 19 and 119 - it will be a rich and meaningful devoti<strong>on</strong>al experience.<br />
1. Begin memorizing Psalm 19: 7-11.<br />
2. Using <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> above commentary, make a "chart" defining <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> expressi<strong>on</strong>s used in<br />
Psalms 19 and 119 to describe <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Word</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>God</str<strong>on</strong>g>.<br />
3. Begin devoti<strong>on</strong>ally reading Psalm 119, 8 verses a day, in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> NIV Bible. Keep a<br />
written diary <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> pers<strong>on</strong>al insights and applicati<strong>on</strong>s.
