major facelift and officially re-opened
for business Tuesday as the Gott Commons
while travelers can make airline, hotel
Readers can swap materials at the
lending library book nook, while the
group meeting space. Capacity is approximately
185 people.
“Regardless if you’re military, civilian
or a contractor on Security Hill, you
can come here and get a great meal.
The breakfast and lunch hours should
satisfy everybody,” said Air Force Intelligence,
Military Saves promotes financial readiness
By Mike Joseph
Senior Writer
Military members, Department of
Defense civilians and their families
have an opportunity to assess their
financial readiness during the annual
national Military Saves campaign
at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland
Feb. 25-March 1.
Lackland’s Airman and Family
Readiness Center has partnered with
the Better Business Bureau of San
Antonio and the Financial Services
Group of Central Region Equifax for
classes next week open to all JBSA
military members and DOD civilians
on base.
“Military Saves sets aside a specific
time to say, ‘I’m going to focus on all
aspects of my finances,” said Jerry
Jackson, AFRC Community Readiness
consultant. “It’s important to have a
financial plan for the future.”
Jackson said Military Saves will
also be promoted to Lackland units
and organizations next week.
The national campaign encourages
service members and their families
to save with the slogan “Start Small,
Think Big,” which is supported at the
local level by the additional phrase
“Are You Savings Ready?”
Military Saves is a joint effort between
DOD and the Consumer Federation
of America to promote healthy
financial habits and the importance
of saving by military and DOD families
to reach financial and personal
goals. More information about Military
Saves is available at http://www.
