After conferring with the membership director, the grand<br />

knight should appoint a membership committee of three or<br />

more <strong>Knight</strong>s, an insurance promotion chairman, and a<br />

retention chairman and committee. The membership director<br />

and recruitment committee members should immediately<br />

begin to set goals and plan specific recruitment, retention<br />

and insurance promotion activities for the year. They should<br />

at this time also begin to set a schedule of recruitment activities<br />

that best suit the council’s goals and resources.<br />

The names and membership numbers of all membership and<br />

service program committee members should be reported to<br />

the Supreme Council Department of Fraternal Services, on<br />

the “Service Program Personnel Report Form” (#365). Along<br />

with space provided on the report form to include the recruitment<br />

committee, retention and insurance promotion chairmen,<br />

areas to list the chaplain, lecturer and any of the following<br />

appointments in the council: Pro-Life chair couple, health<br />

services, public relations, Columbian Squires are also included.<br />

The completed report must reach the Supreme Council<br />

office no later than August 1. A copy of form (#365) is included<br />

in the “Council Report Forms Booklet” (#1436) included in<br />

the “Surge . . . with Service” kit and is also available on the<br />

Order’s Web site.<br />

Upon receipt of the reporting form, the directors and chairmen<br />

will be recorded on the appropriate mailing list and each<br />

will begin receiving <strong>Knight</strong>line, which is issued 12 times a<br />

year and consists of numerous program suggestions for<br />

councils to undertake, as well as news of the Order and the<br />

Supreme Council office. During the course of the fraternal<br />

year, special program information may be mailed to individual<br />

directors and chairmen.<br />

Service Program activities and events sponsored by the<br />

council should be outlined, planned and recorded at least six<br />

months in advance. Monthly meetings should be held by the<br />

program director and membership director for members of<br />

their groups. Advance planning will prove an effective<br />

method of assuring interesting meetings and successful
