APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP AND THE<br />

ADMISSION COMMITTEE<br />

Specific procedures have been adopted in regard to the<br />

admission of new members into the Order:<br />

1. There shall be no investigating committee in any council.<br />

2. Within five days after an application for membership is<br />

presented to him, the grand knight shall refer the application<br />

to the Admission Committee and the chairman<br />

of said committee shall immediately notify the applicant<br />

to appear before it for examination as to his qualifications<br />

for membership.<br />

3. The admission committee has the power of rejection<br />

only if five committee members file a written report<br />

with the grand knight certifying that the applicant is not<br />

a practical Catholic. If this is done, said applicant shall<br />

be deemed rejected, the fact shall be noted in the<br />

application by the grand knight, and the grand knight<br />

shall promptly advise the proposer. Whether or not an<br />

applicant is a practical Catholic is for the Church to<br />

decide. Therefore, it is expected that before a written<br />

report is filed, the committee will have discussed the<br />

situation with the chaplain of the council or the applicant’s<br />

pastor and will be bound by the decision of<br />

either.<br />

4. Having determined that the applicant is a practical<br />

Catholic, the Admission Committee shall submit to the<br />

grand knight its report and recommendations within<br />

ten days following the date when the application was<br />

delivered by the grand knight to the chairman of the
