Wyssen Skyline Crane The productive and economic material transport and logging in the mountains. Our system can be used to harvest timber from entire valley slopes with the minimum of development costs and the carriage, which transports the load, requires only one Skyline cable with a single mainline cable. Loads are yarded in one easy operation from either side over the entire length of the Skyline, are raised to the clamped carriage on the Skyline where they are transported up or downhill and then lowered to the roadside landing. The mainline cable, which is stored on the drum of the sled yarder, hauls the loaded or unloaded carriage uphill. During downhill operation the carriage is braked by the mainline cable with the air-brake supplying the necessary retarding force to regulate the speed. Fitted inside the drum of the sled yarder is a another large braking system which acts to stop, or slow the mainline cable drum and carriage as required. 19
