Diageo
Diageo is delighted to once again sponsor the famous Guinness and Oyster Luncheon which will take place in the
beautiful setting of the Mansion House.
Diageo is the world’s leading premium drinks company with operations in approximately180 markets and brands
including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan. Guinness became part of Diageo’s outstanding brand
collection when Diageo was formed in December 1997 through the merger of Grand Metropolitan PLC and
Guinness PLC. Last year, Diageo celebrated 250 years since Arthur Guinness signed the 9,000-year lease on St
James's Gate in Dublin in 1759. To continue the brand's philanthropic tradition, Diageo has launched a new Arthur
Guinness Fund, which will focus on supporting social entrepreneurialism.
Diageo’s proud association with QEF goes back over forty years. Sponsorship of the Guinness and Oyster
luncheon is just one example of how Diageo supports charitable organisations and local communities worldwide.
Being socially responsible and investing in Diageo's communities is at the heart of what it means to be a good
corporate citizen. Diageo focuses its efforts where the impact is greatest and where it can make the most
difference. Diageo has committed 1 per cent of its operating profit to social investment and community projects -
an input value of £23.4 million in 2009. Part of this investment is made by the Diageo Foundation, set up by the
company to offer 'kick-start' funding and expertise for projects within priority themes.
