Comprising of 3 separate lodges,<br />
namly Chetwynd, Diamond and<br />
Talbot, <strong>Ingestre</strong> <strong>Lodges</strong> benefits<br />
from being within easy driving<br />
distance of many local attractions.<br />
The grounds of <strong>Ingestre</strong> Hall,<br />
landscaped by Lancelot<br />
”Capability” Brown in the<br />
18thCentury are now home to<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong> Park Golf Club.<br />
The <strong>Lodges</strong> are set in the beautiful<br />
Grade II Listed New Stables building,<br />
part of the Earl of Shrewsbury’s estate<br />
and still a traditional English Estate<br />
village with Hall, Church, Farm house,<br />
cottages and surrounding by fields.<br />
Chetwynd <strong>Lodges</strong> sleeps 8 people,<br />
with three bedrooms on the ground<br />
floor and one first floor master<br />
bedroom – includes three bathrooms,<br />
two of them ensuite.<br />

The <strong>Lodges</strong> have been designed with<br />
conservation in mind and retain many<br />
original features of the beautiful<br />
Victorian building, which have all been<br />
painstakingly restored. Grand ceiling<br />
heights, oak panelling, sandstone<br />
corbels, cedar wood beams, ironwork<br />
and original tiling combine to make the<br />
<strong>Lodges</strong> a totally unique place to stay<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong> village (pronounced Innguess-tree)<br />
lies in the heart of the<br />
Staffordshire countryside on the edge<br />
of the Cannock Chase Area of<br />
Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are<br />
less than two mile from Shugbourough<br />
Hall, the ancestral home of the Earls of<br />
Lichfield, now owned by the National<br />

Arrival<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong> <strong>Lodges</strong> is in the village of<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong>, which lies three miles to<br />
the east of Stafford. <strong>Ingestre</strong> has<br />
excellent road and rail links to the<br />
rest of Great Britain. The M6<br />
motorway gives easy access to the<br />
North, South-east and South-west<br />
of England. Birmingham and<br />
Manchester airports are within an<br />
hour’s travelling time.<br />
Stafford railway station lies on the<br />
West Coast main line, 100 minutes<br />
from London Euston.<br />
Follow brown signs to ‘<strong>Ingestre</strong> Stables’<br />
which can be found on the outskirts of<br />
roads out of Stafford on the Weston<br />
Road junction, or along the Tixall Road<br />
from either Stafford or Great Haywood.<br />
Turn off the Tixall Road following signs<br />
for <strong>Ingestre</strong> and Golf Club,Stables,<br />
Church and Hall and drive along the<br />
lane for 3 minutes passing the Lion<br />
<strong>Lodges</strong> gatehouses on your immediate<br />
left and continuing on past the <strong>Ingestre</strong><br />
Park Golf Club. Follow signs to Stables,<br />
Church, Hall at the bend of the road<br />
and up a slight slope towards the New<br />
Stables building which is also the home<br />
to <strong>Ingestre</strong> Stables. The property is a<br />
grand Victorian building with grass<br />
verges and balustrades. Please see our<br />

of the Home page.<br />
It is on the left and further up the hill is<br />
the Old Stables, the Church and<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong> Hall which is up the slope just<br />
out of sight. A row of balustrades<br />
fronts the road and in front of you<br />
there is a large archway with rampant<br />
stone lions and a coat of arms and<br />
large wrought iron gates. Drive through<br />
the gates and archway.<br />
Car Parking and Entrance Once through<br />
the gates turn left and drive to the left<br />
of the courtyard grass circle. You will<br />
see a range of buildings with an<br />
approach of standard roses and a<br />
couple of lollipop box trees. There is<br />
signage that says ‘<strong>Ingestre</strong> <strong>Lodges</strong><br />
parking reserved for Guests only’. Park<br />
anywhere in the gravelled areas along<br />
side the building. There are sensor<br />
activated lights that will be activated as<br />
you park in the evening to help you<br />
see!
Chetwynd Lodge<br />
Sleeps 8 people<br />
Once you have the keys, the front<br />
door to Chetwynd is opened with<br />
the top lock and smaller key. The<br />
entrance is all ground floor level<br />
and the door opens to a large,<br />
double height space with plenty<br />
of room to manoeuvre luggage,<br />
buggies all wheelchairs through.<br />
The width of the front door is<br />
1200mm.<br />
There are 3 lights switches on the<br />
right by the front door and can be<br />
turned on immediately to light the<br />
different zones so that there is no<br />
stumbling in the dark!<br />
There is a Guests Welcome Book<br />
on the kitchen worktop with a<br />
guided tour of facilities,<br />
instructions for appliances and TV<br />
instructions, Wifi codes etc.<br />
Living/dining space<br />
The living and dining space are all<br />
open plan and on the ground<br />
floor. The space is large and open<br />
plan allowing space to move<br />
between the different zones<br />
freely.<br />
The flooring is the original<br />
Victorian brickette from 1886 it is<br />
the historic floor and part of the<br />
character of the building. In<br />
places it may be uneven as it is<br />
125 years old. The furniture on<br />
the ground floor is: Two<br />
Chesterfield 3 seater sofas and<br />
one 2 seater sofa. Dining table<br />
that seats 8 people, a settle, 3<br />
bar stools and a Moroccan<br />
armchair. The living/ dining areas<br />
are original flooring with large<br />
sisal and seagrass rugs over.<br />
There are 3 very high windows<br />
with green silk curtains in the<br />
living area. The windows are<br />
openable from the lower part and<br />
have brass catches. The dining<br />
area has a large, high rosewood<br />
table with legs on each side with<br />
eight broad high backed chairs.<br />
Bedrooms<br />
Once past the living area and<br />
along the corridor there are 3<br />
downstairs bedroom suitable for<br />
mobility restricted guests. The<br />
last bedroom along has an<br />
ensuite shower room with doors<br />
cleared to both bedroom and<br />
shower room of 90 cm in<br />
accordance with Part M of<br />
Building Regulations for level<br />
access. All downstairs bedrooms<br />
have curtains, bedside tables,<br />
bedside lamps and over head<br />
lights. Each downstairs bedroom<br />
has a double bed fitted with<br />
mattress and pillow protectors. All<br />
linen is included and ready<br />
prepared for guests arrival. Two<br />
downstairs bedrooms have a TV<br />
with freeview built in and built in<br />
DVD players. Two bedrooms have<br />
wardrobes and the middle<br />
bedroom has a wooden clothes<br />
rail. Each downstairs room has a<br />
selection of oak smoking chairs<br />
with cushions. The bedrooms<br />
have the original flooring with<br />
sisal rugs in each room. The<br />
corridor is original flooring with<br />
sisal rugs over.<br />
Bathrooms<br />
There are two bathrooms on the<br />
ground floor. One is a family<br />
bathroom with pea-bath and<br />
shower. There are no handrails or<br />
supports in this bath. The WC is<br />
400cm from the floor and the sink<br />
is 800 from the floor in both<br />
downstairs bathroom. All the<br />
downstairs bathrooms have the<br />
original green historic tiles and<br />
oak panelling. All the floors are<br />
the historic Victorian floors and<br />
may be uneven in places. For<br />
access to the first floor: Climb a<br />
carpeted staircase with an oak<br />
handrail to assist on the left side<br />
on way up. The first floor houses<br />
the master bedroom/bridal<br />
suite/family room. There is a light<br />
switch in the corridor below and<br />
once on the upper level to control<br />
turning the lights off downstairs<br />
from the upper bedroom if<br />
necessary.
Chetwynd Lodge<br />
TV<br />
The living area has a Smart TV<br />
with additional Apple TV box.<br />
All controls and user information<br />
included Wifi code for internet<br />
access and smart TV access and<br />
instructions can be round in the<br />
guest welcome book.<br />
There is a selection of books,<br />
local history books and<br />
subscriptions to various editorials<br />
all laid out around the various<br />
tables in the property. Please feel<br />
free to enjoy them.<br />
Umbrellas As our English weather<br />
is not always reliably sunny we<br />
have provided umbrellas for<br />
guests use! These can be found<br />
by the settle by the left side of<br />
the room by the entrance.<br />
Kitchen<br />
The kitchen is also situated on<br />
the ground floor with a central<br />
island to allow easy access<br />
around it. The kitchen comprises<br />
of an island with oak worktops to<br />
level height of 900mm. The<br />
island houses the sink with<br />
drainer, all washing equipment is<br />
found in the cupboard beneath<br />
the sink. The drawers alongside<br />
have the cutlery, the implements<br />
such as tin openers etc and<br />
below dishes. The cupboard to<br />
the left has the pots and pans.<br />
The kitchen also contains a run<br />
of bespoke oak cabinets along<br />
the wall which are opened by<br />
press touch and spring forward<br />
so have no visible handles. They<br />
house the Fridge freezer, the<br />
dishwasher and all crockery,<br />
glassware, teapots/cafetiere/<br />
cooking dishes, childrens plastic<br />
plates etc. There is an oak<br />
cupboard along the wall with<br />
recipe books, a first aid book, a<br />
tray and a large chopping board.<br />
The gallery area is broad and flat<br />
with a carpeted floor. It contains<br />
sofas, a Le Corbusier chaise<br />
longue, some tables and some<br />
reading material on a bookshelf.<br />
Board games and games A<br />
beautiful Victorian inlaid chess<br />
table and various board games<br />
can be found on the gallery level<br />
all for your enjoyment. Go<br />
through to double oak doors into<br />
master bedroom. This is also<br />
carpeted with a huge Victorian<br />
super king size bed with two<br />
mattresses. The top mattress is<br />
sprung and has a memory foam<br />
topper.<br />
There is a dressing table with<br />
mirror, marble top coffee/reading<br />
table and gothic bedside tables<br />
with bedside lamps. The small<br />
study adjacent to the room has a<br />
wardrobe and dressing<br />
table/work space and mirror<br />
with ironing board and iron.<br />
The ensuite bathroom has a<br />
pea-bath and shower and an<br />
Eileen Grey table with products<br />
and soaps. The pedestal basin<br />
has a mirror on the wall above it<br />
and a shaving mirror- and closed<br />
bin. The floor is travertine tiles.<br />
The WC is behind a low wall with<br />
a muslin gauze curtain in front.<br />
The property is mains wired<br />
smoke alarmed through out.<br />
Central heating and radiators in<br />
all bedrooms and living /dining<br />
spaces.<br />
Outside space/ woodland<br />
The property includes use of the<br />
woodland to be accessed through<br />
the central welcome area<br />
archway. The area is covered<br />
with bark and contains a few<br />
ancient 400 year old oak trees.<br />
It is a woodland and has some<br />
steep gradients, tree roots and<br />
the expected woodland hazards.<br />
The area is available for watching<br />
riding lessons on the other side<br />
of the fence, sitting outside,<br />
BBQ’s and general relaxation.<br />
There are seedling<br />
rhododendrons, camellias, hostas<br />
etc planted and the garden is<br />
a burgeoning meadow/woodland<br />
garden.
Talbot Lodge<br />
Sleeps 8 people<br />
Talbot is the same size as Chetwynd<br />
and a mirror image.<br />
Once you have the keys, the front door<br />
to Talbot is opened with the top lock<br />
and smaller key. The entrance is all<br />
ground floor level and the door opens<br />
to a large,double height space with<br />
plenty of room to manoeuvre<br />
luggage,buggies all wheelchairs<br />
through. The width of the front door<br />
is1200mm.<br />
There are 3 lights switches on the left<br />
by the front door and can be turned on<br />
immediately to light the different<br />
zones so that there is no stumbling in<br />
the dark! There is a Guests Welcome<br />
Book on the kitchen work top with a<br />
guided tour of facilities, instructions for<br />
appliances and TV instructions, Wifi<br />

Living/dining space<br />
The living and dining space are all<br />

space is large and open plan allowing<br />

of chairs with cushions. The bedrooms<br />
have the original flooring with sisal<br />
rugs in each room. The corridor is<br />
original flooring with sisal rugs over.<br />
Bathrooms<br />
There are three bathrooms on the<br />
ground floor. One is a family<br />
bathroom with pea-bath and shower.<br />
There are no handrails or supports in<br />
this bath. The WC is 400cm from the<br />
floor and the sink is 800 from the floor<br />
in both downstairs bathroom. Climb a<br />
carpeted staircase with an oak handrail<br />
to assist on the left side on way up.<br />
The first floor houses the master<br />
bedroom/bridal suite/family room.<br />
Upstairs<br />
There is a gallery area with sofas,<br />
tables and books to sit back and relax<br />
in. In front are double doors which<br />
lead to the master bedroom. This has<br />
a lovely king size bed, dressing table,<br />
TV and side tables with lamps on.<br />
there is an ensuite bathroom with a<br />
shower bath and heated mirror.<br />
Also a separate dressing room with<br />
table, chair, iron board and iron.<br />
TV & Internet<br />
The living area has a Smart TV with<br />
additional Apple TV box. All controls<br />
and user information included Wifi<br />
code for internetaccess is displayed in<br />
a photo frame in 2 places downstairs.<br />
There are local history books and<br />
subscriptions to various editorials all<br />
laid out around the various tables in<br />
the property. Please feel free to enjoy<br />
them.<br />

<strong>Ingestre</strong> <strong>Lodges</strong> Gallery Shop<br />
which is found on the ground floor<br />
of Diamond Lodge. We have<br />
sourced some beautiful ceramic<br />
ware, art and linen ware from<br />
friends who have it manufactured<br />
in Stoke on Trent. The ethos of<br />
unique and interesting objects and<br />
items that are designed and made<br />
locally- especially as Stoke on<br />
Trent is so near and such a great<br />
part of Staffordshire’s<br />
manufacturing history- is one that<br />
is always foremost in any<br />
promotion of giftware in the<br />
<strong>Lodges</strong> Gallery Shop.<br />
Our gallery shop showcases<br />
products that are produced by our<br />
designer friends, usually only<br />
available through the large<br />
department stores. We are<br />
priviliged to have beautiful bone<br />
china porcelain by Reiko Kaneko,<br />
a renowned ceramicist based in<br />
Stoke on Trent who sells through<br />
Selfridges, Bee and Tea who<br />
produce vintage style tea mugs<br />
and linen tea towels all produced<br />
in Stoke on Trent, who sell<br />
through Liberty and Sarah King<br />
a London based jeweller who sells<br />
through Barneys New York and<br />
Liberty. We also stock Ruth Allen<br />
a Staffordshire based artist who<br />
screen prints 1950's style<br />
lithographs.<br />

Out & about<br />
Making the most of a short<br />
break or week long getaway,<br />
you could book a riding lesson<br />
at <strong>Ingestre</strong> Riding School,<br />
which is on site and caters for<br />
all ages and levels. <strong>Ingestre</strong><br />
Park Golf Club and St. Thomas<br />
Priory Golf Course are nearby<br />

Oakedge Shooting Ground in<br />
Shugborough, Cannock Chase<br />

large part of the Staffordshire<br />

courtyard to the Riding School<br />
reception where lessons can be<br />
booked upon arrival or prebooked<br />
through ourselves as<br />
part of the service.<br />
<strong>Ingestre</strong> Riding School caters<br />
for all levels of riders and has a<br />
selection of horses for different<br />
ages and standards.<br />
Lessons can be given privately<br />
by International renowned<br />
dressage eventers Tim Downes<br />
or Robert Lovatt, or can also be<br />
booked for adult or children's<br />
groups with any of their staff<br />
and students. Please refer to<br />
