The 1.33 Dual VVT-i petrol engine delivers class leading driving performance and fuel
economy. Thanks to the introduction of our cutting-edge Stop & Start System*, the
engine automatically switches off when your vehicle is stationary: zero emissions,
zero noise and vibration. It restarts seamlessly the moment you engage your clutch,
with no delay in power. Feels good, saves fuel. The result is CO emissions as low as
129 g/km. Maximum power output is 100 hp with 132 Nm at 3800 rpm of torque.
Urban Cruiser’s refined 1.4 litre D-4D engine features the latest advanced common
rail diesel technology. The new high pressure piezo injector and intercooled variable
nozzle turbo charger help boost optimal performance. The first AWD drivetrain in
the world to deliver less than 130 g/km of CO and as low as 118 g/km on the 2WD
version. Maximum power output is 90 hp with 205 Nm at 1800 rpm of torque.

Clean power. Toyota’s powerful yet environmentally
friendly diesel engine technology. Common rail direct
injection adjusts pressure, timing and volume as you
drive, injecting finely atomised fuel at high pressure into
the combustion chamber for the best performance.
All Wheel Drive (AWD)
In normal road conditions, drive is transferred only
through the front wheels to improve fuel economy, but
on take off or on loose, slippery surfaces the system
instantly directs power to the rear wheels to improve
stability and traction.
Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence
(Dual VVT-i)
Precise petrol engine technology that balances
optimised driving pleasure with low fuel consumption
and low emissions. Dual VVT-i refers to the engine’s
ability to alter the timing of the intake and exhaust valve
opening. This means that valve timing is optimised for
any driving condition.

Electrochromatic mirrors
A specially designed rear view mirror that detects
any intense glare from cars behind you, automatically
darkening the mirror surface accordingly.
Smart Entry & Start System
Instead of a conventional key the Smart Entry & Start
System features a transmitter that allows you to unlock
the doors by simply touching the handle and start the
engine at the touch of a button. All you need to do is

Stop & Start
Our latest Stop & Start technology automatically stops

SRS Airbags
For safety, the Urban Cruiser has seven airbags including
curtain shields and a driver’s knee airbag fitted
strategically to reduce injury in a collision.
Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
ABS helps you maintain control by electronically
balancing the braking force between all four
wheels to match the level grip of each one. EBD
complements this by optimising brake force
distribution between each wheel. Together
the two systems help prevent the wheels from
locking, and allow you to steer around obstacles
as you halt.
Brake Assist (BA)
BA automatically supports emergency braking if the
brakes are applied quickly but without sufficient pressure
on the pedal. It does this by measuring how fast and how
hard the brake pedal is depressed and then, if appropriate,
increasing braking force. The timing and degree of
assistance reflects your own braking action, when you
ease the pressure on the pedal, BA similarly reduces the
amount of assistance.

Active Front Headrests
In the event of a rear end collision, the active headrests
shift to appropriate position to reduce whiplash injuries.
Traction Control (TRC)
If you accelerate too hard and cause the drive wheels to
lose grip and begin spinning, TRC will instantly reduce
engine power to help restore traction.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
VSC automatically controls brake force and engine
output to help prevent skidding when turning sharply
or on slippery surfaces.
ISOFIX Seat fixing
The seating incorporates special anchor points –
including a top tether that helps prevent the seat
tipping forward – for a safe and convenient way of
correctly securing ISOFIX child seats (available
from your Toyota retailer).

To achieve lower emissions and greener vehicles on
the way toward the ultimate eco-car, it is essential to
measure progress. Toyota has therefore developed its
Ecological Vehicle Assessment System, or ECOVAS.
This is a comprehensive approach to assessing a
vehicles whole life cycle in terms of its impact on
the environment, starting at the early stage of
development, before the vehicle is actually built.
The environmental impact of the Urban Cruiser
(1.4 D-4D) compared to a former equivalent SUV
model is demonstrated through the complete life cycle
with a 27% CO (carbon dioxide), 43% NOx (nitrogen
oxide), 26% NMHC (non-methane hydrocarbons), 40%
PM (particulate matter) and 24% SOx (sulphur oxide)
reduction.
During the production of your vehicle every effort is
made to reduce the effect of the manufacturing process
on the environment.
Since 2002 the environmental impact of manufacturing
has continuously reduced, resulting in a 14% reduction
in CO emissions, 14% reduction in water consumption
and 39% reduction in volatile organic compounds. Waste
disposed of at cost was also reduced by 3%.
We are always looking to employ the most efficient
and environmentally friendly logistical and delivery
methods. For instance, modes of transport with the least
environmental impact are selected wherever possible.

sooner). An intermediate Health and Safety
check is necessary every year or 15,000 km
(whichever comes sooner).
Toyota warranty
Comprehensive terms The warranty covers any
defect caused by a manufacturing or assembly
fault. It is valid for three years of normal use
or 100,000 km, whichever comes first, with no
mileage limitation for the first year. If the car is
immobilised due to a breakdown (as a result of a
defect covered under warranty), you will also be
covered for the cost of towing your vehicle to the
nearest authorised Toyota repairer.
Rust and paint defects The warranty also covers
surface rust and paint defects appearing on any
of the painted body panels as a result of a fault
in material for a period of 3 years, regardless
of mileage.
Corrosion cover The warranty offers 12 years’ coverage,
regardless of mileage, against perforation of the
bodywork (from inside to outside) that develop due to
corrosion caused by faults in material or workmanship.
Toyota genuine parts
The Urban Cruiser is designed to minimise the cost of
accident repair. Energy absorbing elements are built into
the bumpers, expensive to replace parts are located away
from damage zones, and commonly damaged body parts
are bolted rather than welded. As a result, the extent of
damage is limited and damaged parts are easy to remove,
replace or repair. Ultimately, this means very low part
and labour charges.
Toyota Eurocare
In order to help you enjoy peace of mind driving,
we are pleased to provide 3 years Toyota Eurocare
roadside assistance coverage in no less than 40
European countries. If you experience a problem
with your Urban Cruiser, Toyota Eurocare offers
several possibilities to keep you on the road.
Added security
The Urban Cruiser’s security system withstands the
insurance industry’s rigorous five-minute attack test and
provides excellent protection. The engine immobiliser
is approved by Europe’s major insurance companies
