Introduction
Partners from six NW European countries are working together on the
INTERREG IVb <strong>project</strong> “<strong>ENEVATE</strong> – European Network on Electric Vehicles
and Transferring Expertise” to facilitate and support the accelerated
introduction of electric mobility in North West Europe through
structured transnational cooperation between public authorities
and business representatives. In the long term, e-mobility has the
potential to permanently alter not only the topic mobility but also
the business landscape. Together with you we would like to discuss
possible changes and their impact on the region Nordhessen as well
as companies located in this area. As a basis for the discussion the
<strong>project</strong>-<strong>results</strong> will be presented to you in three sessions.

Content of the workshop
14 partners from six countries are working together
in the <strong>ENEVATE</strong> <strong>project</strong> since three years. Now
the most relevant <strong>project</strong> <strong>results</strong> of the INTERREG
IVb <strong>project</strong> will be presented to you in three workshop
sessions.
1. Training Session:
DEVELOPMENT OF NEW SUPPLY CHAINS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLES
PERSPECTIVES IN NORTHWEST EUROPEAN REGIONS
In order to promote the introduction of e-mobility and strengthen
the competitiveness of the part-taking regions in NW Europe,
“AutoCluster NRW” analysed current battery electric vehicles.
The <strong>results</strong> will provide an overview which competencies and
capacities are needed for the mass production of BEV’s (battery
electric vehicle) in Europe. Subsequent to the presentation of
the <strong>project</strong> <strong>results</strong>, changes for the supply chains and their effects
on companies in Nordhessen will be discussed.
2. Training Session:
ELECTRIC VEHICLE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT –
USING THE <strong>ENEVATE</strong> TOOL KIT
In the second training session the <strong>project</strong> partner “Future-Transport-System”
(UK) will present the tool kit for the electric vehicle
charging infrastructure tool kit. The <strong>results</strong> raise the question, if
a funded expansion of the charging infrastructure in Nordhessen
is necessary for the implementation of e-mobility and to what
extent it will be needed.

3. Training Session:
SOCIO-TECHNICAL TRANSITIONS AND ELECTRIC VEHICLES
The “Cardiff University” (Wales) collected data from a broad
selection of primarily NW European e-mobility <strong>project</strong>s and
analysed this data along socio-economic factors, in order to
find out which <strong>project</strong>s were particularly successful. Considering
that Regionalmanagement Nordhessen GmbH currently
implements the e-mobility <strong>project</strong> “FREE” in this region, it is
especially interesting to discuss, which factors need to be altered
in order to support an essential progress of e-mobility in
Nordhessen.
The individual <strong>results</strong> shall be summarized in a final discussion
to highlight the importance for the region Nordhessen.

INTERREG IVb-Projekt <strong>ENEVATE</strong> –
European Network on Electric Vehicles and Transferring Expertise
Partners from six countries are working together on the IN-
TERREG IVb <strong>project</strong> <strong>ENEVATE</strong> – European Network on Electric
Vehicles and Transferring Expertise to accelerate the development
and introduction of e-mobility in NW Europe. Knowledge
should be transferred, information be spread, and transition
periods be facilitated through structured transnational cooperation
between public authorities, knowledge- and innovation
centres and business representatives. In doing so, ENE-
VATE builds bridges between relevant actors, which previously
primarily operated for themselves.
The <strong>project</strong> wants to boost innovation and competitiveness of
the rapidly developing electric vehicle sector in NWE and at the
same time to contribute to the urgent environmental challenge
of reducing CO2 emissions. <strong>ENEVATE</strong> targets electric road vehicles,
energy infrastructure, integrated mobility concepts, and
demonstrates the potentials through pilot actions and enables
other actors.
In order to enforce new technologies, a particular focus was put
on acceptance increasing measures for consumers and authorities.
<strong>ENEVATE</strong> provides crucial impulses to implement Europe’s
2020 goals and to bring about long-term improvements of the
traffic infrastructure. A further positive effect of the accelerated
shift to environmentally friendly traffic is the initiated investments
in different branches, which create jobs in north-western
Europe. In the global market of e-mobility, competitive advantages
can be secured together.
