Erwin Roberts to join Frost Brown Todd Litigation Department
May 24, 2006 (Louisville, KY) Erwin Roberts, Secretary of the Personnel Cabinet of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky is joining Frost Brown Todd in its litigation department beginning June 19, 2006.
Erwin Roberts attended the University of Kentucky College of Law graduating in
1997. He began his professional career in public service as an Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney in the Fayette County Commonwealth Attorney’s office
where he prosecuted state felony cases.
In 1999, Erwin joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of
Kentucky. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney prosecuting federal drug
cases until 2001. Shortly after September 11, 2001, Erwin was asked by Lieutenant
Governor Steve Pence, then U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, to
serve as the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) (formerly the Anti-Terrorism Task Force)
Coordinator and Chief Information Officer for the Western District of Kentucky.
On November 17, 2004, Governor Ernie Fletcher appointed Erwin Roberts Secretary of the Personnel
Cabinet. Secretary Roberts joined the Fletcher administration in March of 2004 serving as the first
Director of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS). Before his appointment as Secretary of
the Personnel Cabinet, he briefly served as Deputy Secretary of the Environmental and Public Protection
Cabinet.
Erwin currently serves his country in the United States Army Reserves. As a Captain in the United States
Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), he provides legal assistance to fellow soldiers.
Erwin is married to Pheli Roberts and has four children.
