The Division of Spiritual Care is pleased to offer the following classes to all clergy,
spiritual caregivers, lay ministers, hospital staff and interested community members for the months of
September through December 2009. Unless otherwise noted, classes are without charge.

ART OF CARING CONVERSATION – LEVEL ONE
Thursday mornings, 9:00am-12:00noon, on September 10, 17, 24 and October 1, 2009.
A four-session class focused on the communicative dimension of being a healing presence.
Open to all interested persons, lay ministers, clergy as well as health and spiritual caregivers.
Completion of course required of those wishing to be a Geisinger volunteer Chaplain Assistant.
Facilitator: Chaplain Karl A. Polm-Faudre PhD, Geisinger Division of Spiritual Care.
Fee: $10.00; free for GMC volunteers. Course handouts and media provided. Scholarships available.

ART OF CARING CONVERSATION – LEVEL TWO
Thursday mornings, 9:00am-12:00noon, on October 15 and 22, 2009.
A two-session class focused on deepening and expanding concepts and skills acquired in Level I.
Open to all interested persons, lay ministers, clergy as well as health and spiritual caregivers who have
successfully completed all four sessions of the Art of Caring Conversation – Level I.
Highly recommended for those already serving as Geisinger volunteer Chaplain Assistants.
Facilitator: Chaplain Karl A. Polm-Faudre PhD, Geisinger Division of Spiritual Care.
Fee: $10.00; free for GMC volunteers. Course handouts and media provided. Scholarships available.
