The Big Move
New address details for
Siemens Mechanical Drives

A major factory relocation
We are delighted to announce that Siemens Mechanical Drives has
moved into a new dedicated assembly and service centre; a purpose
built factory at Navigation Park in Stourton, Leeds which will bring
significant long-term benefits to our customers, employees and
partners.
At Siemens Mechanical
Drives we pride ourselves in
the delivery of high quality,
flexible and cost-effective
technical solutions. The
investment in a new facility
will enable us to realise a
significant step change in
our operations and thereby
increase the value
proposition we will be able
to offer our customers and
partners. This will be
realised through the
adoption of lean production
cells, improved material
flow, increased production
capacity and material
handling.
As well as investing in our
facility, we continue to
invest in people. We have
taken on more apprentices
to enhance our long-term
bank of skilled employees.
In parallel, employees in all
areas of the business are
engaged in further
developing and improving
systems and processes.
With respect to our
customers in particular, we
will be holding technical
seminars and conferences
at the new facility, covering
the broader Siemens drive
train solutions,
incorporating variable
speed drives, motors,
couplings and gearboxes.
One area of particular
growth at the new site will
be around service.
Although we have a well
established reputation for
our traditional products, the
areas of wind and rail
service are developing fast.
Winergy drive units and
Flender rail gear
units/couplings installed
and operating in the UK
have increased dramatically
in recent years. The new
factory layout improves
materials handling, and
additional capacity will
enable us to offer an
improved turnaround of
maintenance, repair and
overhaul for these products
– benefiting our customers
enormously.
Formal Opening
We’re looking forward to
showing you our new
facilities and we’ll be holding
a formal opening of the new
factory in January 2011.
We’ll be in touch again soon
with your personal invitation
to visit us.

Location map of new factory
New General
Manager
Simon Nadin joined the
Mechanical Drives Division
in June and has been coordinating
the new factory
move as well as getting
familiar with the Flender
brand range. With a
background in production
and process management,
Simon’s clear thinking has
already been of significant
benefit to the relocation.
He joined Siemens in 1988
and was previously Business
Excellence Manager at the
world drives factory in
Congleton. Simon’s
experience means he is
ideally placed to help
develop Siemens offerings
in growing industry areas
such as wind energy, rail
and airports.
