Technical Rules for Recruitment 2013
Budget
1. Each sorority has a budget of $1,500, which covers all allowed decorations and
food for all three nights of formal recruitment.
2. Each chapter will submit a storage inventory to Ashton Avent
(greeklife@presby.edu) before May 11, 2013. On the storage inventory,
recruitment chairs must mark what will be used during formal recruitment, which
Panhellenic Exec must then approve.
3. Panhellenic Exec must approve all donations that will be used during formal
recruitment, and the value of these donations will be deducted from the $1,500
budget. Items borrowed from a member’s family are considered donations. Please
contact Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) for approval.
4. By Monday, September 9, 2013, recruitment chairs must submit a list of all items
being used during formal recruitment to Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu).
This list must include all items that were purchased, rented, donated, or from
storage. The list must also include the value of each item. This list will serve as a
final record for all expenses. Panhellenic Exec reserves the right to fine a sorority
10% of the cost of the undocumented item.
5. Unpaid fines will be deducted from the sorority’s Recruitment budget for the
following year. Fines are due to Panhellenic one week after Bid Day.
Recruitment Preparation
6. A factual sheet which includes the sorority’s GPA requirement and a breakdown
of all membership financial responsibilities is due the Ashton Avent by Thursday,
August 1, 2013. Please submit this factual sheet electronically to
greeklife@presby.edu. This sheet will be given to potential new members before
the formal recruitment process begins.
7. Panhellenic cannot regulate the number of hours spent preparing for formal
recruitment. However, please be considerate of your member’s time, class
schedule, other commitments, and overall well-being.

Decorations
8. On the first and second night of recruitment, 3 tables will be allowed to display
boards and scrapbooks. The tables can either be 6 ft. rectangular tables or 8 ft.
circular tables. Tablecloths are allowed to hang from the tables. There are to be no
refreshments at these parties.
9. On first and second nights of recruitment, two “freestanding objects” are allowed
only if pre-approved by Panhellenic Exec. Submit these requests for approval to
Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) by Monday, September 9, 2013.
Chapter Letters count as 1 freestanding object.
10. On first and second nights, nothing may hang from the walls or ceilings.
*Exception- In the event that room sizes or shapes are vastly different, the
Presbyterian College Panhellenic Council will provide a barrier to be used, and
this object will not be included as one of your additional freestanding objects.
11. On the first and second night of recruitment, the recruitment committees for each
chapter are the only members allowed to set-up for the recruitment parties. The
recruitment committee is made up of five chapter members, the chapter
recruitment chair, and the chapter president.
12. For Preference night, any decorations are allowed, and any member of the chapter
is allowed to be a part of set-up
13. All recruitment locations must be completely cleaned up by 2am each night of
formal recruitment.
14. Only the indoor recruitment space is to be utilized. No singing is allowed on
balconies or out of open windows.
15. A potential new member should take nothing out of a party.
16. Males are not allowed to participate in any recruitment and bid day activities,
including but not limited to moving supplies. (UA VI.2.D.)
17. Recruitment Chairs will submit floor plans of all three nights’ parties to be
approved by the Panhellenic Executive Council. These should be given to or
emailed to Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) by Monday, September 9, 2013.
Panhellenic Exec reserves the right to ask that anything added after this floor plan
is submitted be removed before the parties begin.

Entertainment
18. Songs
a. 1 st night- one entrance song, one exit song
b. 2 nd night- one entrance song, one related to philanthropy, one exit song
c. 3 rd night- unlimited number of songs
19. Clothing
a. 1 st night- chapter letter shirt
b. 2 nd night- anything
c. 3 rd night- anything
20. Food/Drink
a. 1 st night- no food or drink
b. 2 nd night- no food or drink
c. 3 rd night- food and drink allowed
21. No crafts are to be made by any potential new member or affiliated women
during any recruitment party.
22. The slide show for philanthropy night must be no longer than 10 minutes and can
only include philanthropy-related material. A DVD of your final video must be
turned into Ashton Avent by Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 5 PM.
Public Relations
23. From the start of Freshman Orientation until 11 AM on Bid Day, no mottos,
slogans, or letters are allowed on/in public spaces around Presbyterian College,
excluding tailgates, intramurals, and philanthropy events. Sorority car decals are
allowed.
24. Social Media (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vine):
a. As soon as Pi Chis are announced:
All sorority women and Pi Chis are required to de-friend any
incoming students for all social media site.
All sorority women and Pi Chis are not allowed to accept any
friend requests from or send any friend requests to incoming
students on all social media sites.
b. All sorority women and Pi Chis must make all social media sites
completely private by August 1, 2013. Please remember that profile
pictures and cover photos can still be viewed even if your profiles are
private so Pi Chis should not be in either of these with affiliated women.

c. All sorority women and Pi Chis must comply with these regulations, or the
chapter will be fined an initial $30 and $10 for each consecutive week that
it remains unchanged.
25. Websites:
a. Each sorority must remove pictures of recruitment counselors (Pi Chis)
from the chapter websites.
Bid Day
26. Sororities will be in their designated spots by 12pm (no earlier than 11:55am) on
Bid Day. Any sorority that is late will be fined $50.
27. On Bid Day, sororities must stay behind the designated lines or partitions.
Panhellenic reserves the right to fine individuals or chapters $50 for crossing the
lines.
General Rules
28. All sorority women, recruitment counselors, members of the Panhellenic
Executive Council, and any alumni assisting in Recruitment are responsible for
knowing and abiding by these rules. (UA VI.2.E)
