<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Recruitment</strong> 2013<br />
Budget<br />
1. Each sorority has a budget of $1,500, which covers all allowed decorations and<br />
food <strong>for</strong> all three nights of <strong>for</strong>mal recruitment.<br />
2. Each chapter will submit a storage inventory to Ashton Avent<br />
(greeklife@presby.edu) be<strong>for</strong>e May 11, 2013. On the storage inventory,<br />
recruitment chairs must mark what will be used during <strong>for</strong>mal recruitment, which<br />
Panhellenic Exec must then approve.<br />
3. Panhellenic Exec must approve all donations that will be used during <strong>for</strong>mal<br />
recruitment, and the value of these donations will be deducted from the $1,500<br />
budget. Items borrowed from a member’s family are considered donations. Please<br />
contact Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) <strong>for</strong> approval.<br />
4. By Monday, September 9, 2013, recruitment chairs must submit a list of all items<br />
being used during <strong>for</strong>mal recruitment to Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu).<br />
This list must include all items that were purchased, rented, donated, or from<br />
storage. The list must also include the value of each item. This list will serve as a<br />
final record <strong>for</strong> all expenses. Panhellenic Exec reserves the right to fine a sorority<br />
10% of the cost of the undocumented item.<br />
5. Unpaid fines will be deducted from the sorority’s <strong>Recruitment</strong> budget <strong>for</strong> the<br />
following year. Fines are due to Panhellenic one week after Bid Day.<br />
<strong>Recruitment</strong> Preparation<br />
6. A factual sheet which includes the sorority’s GPA requirement and a breakdown<br />
of all membership financial responsibilities is due the Ashton Avent by Thursday,<br />
August 1, 2013. Please submit this factual sheet electronically to<br />
greeklife@presby.edu. This sheet will be given to potential new members be<strong>for</strong>e<br />
the <strong>for</strong>mal recruitment process begins.<br />
7. Panhellenic cannot regulate the number of hours spent preparing <strong>for</strong> <strong>for</strong>mal<br />
recruitment. However, please be considerate of your member’s time, class<br />
schedule, other commitments, and overall well-being.<br />

Decorations<br />
8. On the first and second night of recruitment, 3 tables will be allowed to display<br />
boards and scrapbooks. The tables can either be 6 ft. rectangular tables or 8 ft.<br />
circular tables. Tablecloths are allowed to hang from the tables. There are to be no<br />
refreshments at these parties.<br />
9. On first and second nights of recruitment, two “freestanding objects” are allowed<br />
only if pre-approved by Panhellenic Exec. Submit these requests <strong>for</strong> approval to<br />
Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) by Monday, September 9, 2013.<br />
Chapter Letters count as 1 freestanding object.<br />
10. On first and second nights, nothing may hang from the walls or ceilings.<br />
*Exception- In the event that room sizes or shapes are vastly different, the<br />
<strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>College</strong> Panhellenic Council will provide a barrier to be used, and<br />
this object will not be included as one of your additional freestanding objects.<br />
11. On the first and second night of recruitment, the recruitment committees <strong>for</strong> each<br />
chapter are the only members allowed to set-up <strong>for</strong> the recruitment parties. The<br />
recruitment committee is made up of five chapter members, the chapter<br />
recruitment chair, and the chapter president.<br />
12. For Preference night, any decorations are allowed, and any member of the chapter<br />
is allowed to be a part of set-up<br />
13. All recruitment locations must be completely cleaned up by 2am each night of<br />
<strong>for</strong>mal recruitment.<br />
14. Only the indoor recruitment space is to be utilized. No singing is allowed on<br />
balconies or out of open windows.<br />
15. A potential new member should take nothing out of a party.<br />
16. Males are not allowed to participate in any recruitment and bid day activities,<br />
including but not limited to moving supplies. (UA VI.2.D.)<br />
17. <strong>Recruitment</strong> Chairs will submit floor plans of all three nights’ parties to be<br />
approved by the Panhellenic Executive Council. These should be given to or<br />
emailed to Ashton Avent (greeklife@presby.edu) by Monday, September 9, 2013.<br />
Panhellenic Exec reserves the right to ask that anything added after this floor plan<br />
is submitted be removed be<strong>for</strong>e the parties begin.<br />

Entertainment<br />
18. Songs<br />
a. 1 st night- one entrance song, one exit song<br />
b. 2 nd night- one entrance song, one related to philanthropy, one exit song<br />
c. 3 rd night- unlimited number of songs<br />
19. Clothing<br />
a. 1 st night- chapter letter shirt<br />
b. 2 nd night- anything<br />
c. 3 rd night- anything<br />
20. Food/Drink<br />
a. 1 st night- no food or drink<br />
b. 2 nd night- no food or drink<br />
c. 3 rd night- food and drink allowed<br />
21. No crafts are to be made by any potential new member or affiliated women<br />
during any recruitment party.<br />
22. The slide show <strong>for</strong> philanthropy night must be no longer than 10 minutes and can<br />
only include philanthropy-related material. A DVD of your final video must be<br />
turned into Ashton Avent by Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 5 PM.<br />
Public Relations<br />
23. From the start of Freshman Orientation until 11 AM on Bid Day, no mottos,<br />
slogans, or letters are allowed on/in public spaces around <strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>College</strong>,<br />
excluding tailgates, intramurals, and philanthropy events. Sorority car decals are<br />
allowed.<br />
24. Social Media (including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Vine):<br />
a. As soon as Pi Chis are announced:<br />
All sorority women and Pi Chis are required to de-friend any<br />
incoming students <strong>for</strong> all social media site.<br />
All sorority women and Pi Chis are not allowed to accept any<br />
friend requests from or send any friend requests to incoming<br />
students on all social media sites.<br />
b. All sorority women and Pi Chis must make all social media sites<br />
completely private by August 1, 2013. Please remember that profile<br />
pictures and cover photos can still be viewed even if your profiles are<br />
private so Pi Chis should not be in either of these with affiliated women.<br />

c. All sorority women and Pi Chis must comply with these regulations, or the<br />
chapter will be fined an initial $30 and $10 <strong>for</strong> each consecutive week that<br />
it remains unchanged.<br />
25. Websites:<br />
a. Each sorority must remove pictures of recruitment counselors (Pi Chis)<br />
from the chapter websites.<br />
Bid Day<br />
26. Sororities will be in their designated spots by 12pm (no earlier than 11:55am) on<br />
Bid Day. Any sorority that is late will be fined $50.<br />
27. On Bid Day, sororities must stay behind the designated lines or partitions.<br />
Panhellenic reserves the right to fine individuals or chapters $50 <strong>for</strong> crossing the<br />
lines.<br />
General <strong>Rules</strong><br />
28. All sorority women, recruitment counselors, members of the Panhellenic<br />
Executive Council, and any alumni assisting in <strong>Recruitment</strong> are responsible <strong>for</strong><br />
knowing and abiding by these rules. (UA VI.2.E)<br />
