Reason for the Shortage • Mylan Institutional has diphenhydramine injection on shortage due to increased demand. The company is increasing production to try to meet this demand. • Hospira discontinued diphenhydramine iSecure syringes in 2011. • West-Ward could not provide a reason for the shortage. • Pfizer discontinued all Benadryl injection in 2005. • IMS discontinued diphenhydramine injection in April 2008. Product will become available in stages as production resumes. • Bedford Laboratories has temporarily suspended the distribution of Ben Venue Laboratories manufactured products.
