Favorite Memory Returning from the Mediterranean in 1962 we steered south of Bermuda avoiding the
hurricane heading up the coast of USA. We were taking water over the bow due to the
high waves.
Worst Memory Upon reporting onboard on a Wednesday, I found out the ship was departing for a 67
month deployment to the Med. I had just moved the family to Norfolk and got special 4
days leave to move the family to my parents home in Wisconsin. The ship set sail
Monday morning.
