The Treasurer and Secretary presented a statement of accounts for the year ended 31<br />

December 1916, showing a balance of £1O/14/5d in the club’s favour.<br />

A dozen golf balls were donated to the club from time to time during the year and these<br />

were played for on the first Saturday of each month, one ball being won each Saturday.<br />

It was resolved that the following prizes be given out of the club’s funds:<br />

—Continuous Stroke Competition to the value of 10/-<br />

—Continuous Bogey Competition to the value of 10/-<br />

—<strong>Club</strong> Championship Competition to the value of £2121-<br />

Match Play Tournament to the value of 10/-<br />

In this, the last Committee meeting of our first year, dated 28 February 1917, the<br />

Committee decided unanimously that an Honorarium of £4/4/- be donated to the<br />

Secretary as an acknowledgement of his service during the past year.<br />

Eleven (11) members attended the 1st Annual General Meeting on 17 March 1917.<br />

Present<br />

Dr Cameron (in the chair), and Messrs Dunlop, Watt, Charles, Rogers, McIntosh,<br />

Shand, T. Gibson, M. Gibson, Twomey, Whitehead.<br />

After the Minutes of the Meeting of <strong>Golf</strong>ers, held on 29 January 1916 had been read<br />

and confirmed, Dr Cameron reviewed the <strong>history</strong> of the formation of the links and club,<br />

and spoke about the Council’s adverse attitude with regard to a proposal for a change<br />

from Saturday play to Sunday play.<br />

A recommendation was made to the incoming committee to promote a match play<br />

tournament for junior players only.<br />

The AGM decided that a letter be sent to Mr Hollis (the Caretaker), expressing<br />

appreciation of his courtesy, geniality and care for the interests and well being of the<br />

members.<br />

It was resolved with acclamation that Dr Cameron be elected President of the club (our<br />

first).<br />
