Votes of thanks were passed to the Secretary for his service during the year, donors of
prizes, and to the Chairman at the termination of the meeting.
Extracts — 1917
It had been resolved at the AGM of 17 March 1917 that Opening Day and the
competitions be advertised, and all golfers be invited to take part. Invitations to be
present were also to be sent to the members of the following clubs: Wellington,
Miramar, Hutt, Waiwhetu, Paekakariki, Karori and Johnsonville.
Dr Cameron Shield: It was suggested that the mode of play should be that the player
returning the best net aggregate score of two rounds of 18 holes in each of the months
of May, June, July, August, September and October should be entitled to play off in the
final in November, on a day to be fixed by the Committee, 18 holes play on their
handicaps at that date — a player only to qualify once.
2nd Annual General Meeting — 23 February 1918
Subscription increased from 5/- to 10/- per annum. Dr Cameron was requested to
approach the City Council with a view to obtaining season tickets at as low a rate as
possible.
At a Committee meeting during the year, Mr T. Gibson gave notice of motion that the
name of the club be changed. Members were invited to suggest a more appropriate
name. Later it was proposed that the name The Cosmopolitan Golf Club be taken to the
next Annual General Meeting for approval and adoption.
3rd Annual General Meeting — 8 March 1919
At this meeting, a proposal was put to the members that the name of the club be
changed to either ‘The Berhampore Golf Club’ or ‘The Mornington Golf Club’, and a
ballot of members be taken to determine the name they prefer. The voting was in favour
of ‘The Mornington Golf Club’.
