Our
The Doxa Deo Foundation represents a range of projects,
all aimed at making a contribution to improve society by
raising City Changers, empowering the disempowered, and
working to make a difference in the welfare of the people
of South Africa by engaging positively in eight spheres of
society.
The eight Spheres being: Education, the Arts, Business, the
Church, Social Society, Government, Media and Sport.
SCHOOLS
[Children/Education/ECD/BEE SED/Tax]
We believe that Christ must be exalted in every sphere of
society. We have established schools to model a Christ
Centred Education model. We have seen many children
discover their identity in Christ and potential in Him. We
are raising City Changers who will make a difference in
every area of involvement.
There are currently three Doxa Deo Schools which are situated
at the following sites:
1. Eastern suburbs of Pretoria,
2. Edendale, close to Mamelodi,
3. Hartbeespoort at the Xanadu Eco Estate.
The schools have enrolled approximately 1 700 learners.
There are also two pre-schools:
1. Kinderland in Centurion,
2. POPKids in Salvokop
The pre-schools have enrolled approximately 200
children.
There is the possibility that an existing pre-school
based in Garankuwa with 60 children will in future
be managed by Doxa Deo Schools in association
with POPKids.
Impact
• Raising children knowing who they are in Christ
• Equipping children for Kingdom expansion
• Excellent academic results
Investment Opportunities
• Bursary fund for children in need
• Capital investment
• Investment in technology
EDUCATIONAL ENGAGEMENT
[Education/HIV/Aids/Poverty Alleviation/Discipleship]
We are acutely aware that there are many felt needs to address
in the private and public schools of our cities.
Our children are calling out for direction and we have the
answer. We need to introduce them to Christ and disciple
them in order for them to find their purpose in life. We
also want to reach, serve and have an impact in the lives
of parents, teachers and principals. We have the following
programmes reaching the major role players in schools:
• TREE (Transforming the Educational Environment)
– Doxa Deo established an outreach
programme called TREE, focusing on schools in
an effort to support the educational staff and
the school leadership to effectively guide learners
through the challenges unique to their age
groups. TREE is a holistic outreach to all stakeholders
in a school: learners, parents, teachers and
principals. TREE is a programme based on Biblical
principles and addresses issues such as: identity,
character and morality. We are currently involved
in 55 schools in Tshwane.
• Acts2Change – This is an empowerment program
custom designed for township schools, using a
programme called ‘It takes Courage’ developed
in conjunction with Kerus Global Education in
the USA. Active in 37 schools in Soshanguve,
the program addresses HIV/Aids education and
prevention, as well as an orientation to Christian
based morals.
Impact
• Changing the destiny of children
• Caring for HIV/Aids orphans
Investment opportunities
• Roll-out support to reach more schools
• Investment in day care centres for
HIV/Aids orphans
CHILDREN’S HOMES
[Children/Poverty Alleviation]
Doxa Deo believes that caring for widows and orphans
is very close to God’s heart. We are caring for orphaned
children in seven children’s homes. Care is given to
abandoned, abused and disabled children. The homes are
situated in the Greater Tshwane, Johannesburg and Cape
Town. Doxa Deo decided to care for vulnerable, destitute
and HIV positive children due to the fact that these groups
are often disregarded by society. Each home is linked to a
Doxa Deo campus which lends support to the house and
also shares the responsibility of caring for the children. We
currently have the following children’s homes:
• House Heneka, based in Pretoria, is a special
needs infant institution where we care for dis
abled and HIV infected children.
• Lesedi House, based in Hartbeespoort, is a halfway
house for orphaned and abandoned babies
some are infected with HIV. Babies are cared for
until adoptive parents are found.
• Makhulong Child and Youth Care Centres,
based at the Doxa Deo Edendale School, cares
for abandoned children and AIDS orphans in
two houses. Shalom House cares for children at
primary school level and Jabulani House for high
school children. Many of our children are victims
of abuse and need special care to restore their
lives.
• KI-DEO, based in Centurion, is a house caring for
children from the age of 5 to 18 where they can
experience the family environment they have
been deprived of. This house has been running
for five years and gained a reputation for exceptional
excellence in the area of caring for traumatised
children.
• My Huis, based in Johannesburg, is a house catering
for traumatised children who no longer have a
house to call home. They are assisted in all facets
of their development as members of society
including educational and sport support.
• Thembiso Baby House, based in Cape Town,
cares for babies; some are handicapped and
others are HIV positive. The intention is to find
adoptive parents for these babies where possible.
We have seen many lives restored in our homes and our
children are cared for in an environment of love and hope.
Impact
• Giving expression to Christ’s compassion for
orphans
• 60 children cared for in a loving environment
• Restoration of hope, identity and dignity
Investment opportunities
• Capital investment – upgrading of facilities
• Financial support to enable us to care for all the
needs of our children
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
[Leadership/Education]
The Doxa Deo City Changers Institute (CCI) has been
established to train lay leaders, teachers and full time
ministry students as well as post graduate studies in
management disciplines.
• The City Changers Ministry Programme (CCMP)
– lay leaders are assisted to discover their spiritual
and leadership gifts. Students are equipped to
give practical expression to their gifts.
• The School of Education – assists students
enrolled part time at the University of South
Africa (Unisa) and the North-West University in
their studies. Students are empowered through
additional courses where CCI invests in their
leadership and managerial skills. Students are
given the opportunity to gain first hand practical
experience by assisting teachers at the Doxa Deo
Schools. We have entered into an agreement with
Ryan International Schools, based in India, to train
teachers for their schools.
• The School of Divinity trains students who want
to engage in ministry within the context of the
church in full time capacity. Students are given
the opportunity to gain practical ministry experience
through their involvement at Doxa Deo
campuses.
• Post Graduate Degrees – CCI offers post graduate
studies in partnership with Regent University
in the USA. Students have an option to enrol for
a Masters degree in Organisational Leadership
or an MBA. Students have access to the distance
learning facilities from Regent University and the
opportunity to take part in group discussions and
projects with local teams. Moderators from CCI
assess students on a continuous basis.
Our vision is to develop our training to include other vocational
options. We desire to train students in eight different
spheres of society, who will live to make a difference in the
Page 3
environment in which they operate. We have seen significant
impact where our students were employed and would
love to see more students become part of our programmes.
Impact
• Lay leaders empowered to equip the body for
Kingdom expansion
• Teachers living for Christ and inspiring children to
discover their identity in Christ
• Pastors with an understanding of Kingdom expansion
through community transformation
• Business leaders with a Kingdom perspective having
an impact in their organisations for Christ.
Investment opportunities
• Bursary fund for students in our programmes. We
are reaching out to underprivileged communities
and want to give students with potential an opportunity
to study at CCI.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT – POPUP
[Skills Development/BEE SED/ BEE ED/ABET/Tax]
The suffering of people as a result of inadequate or a lack
of education and skills prompted Doxa Deo to become
part of the solution to turn the tide from despair to hope.
POPUP, the People Upliftment Programme, was established
to empower the disempowered.
South Africa is in need of significant investment in human
capital to raise people from a sense of disempowerment,
to a future filled with hope and promise. Students pay a
small registration fee after which all the skills programmes
are free.
Skills Development Centre in Salvokop, Pretoria
Seven skills programmes are presented at this centre:
• Business Practice
• Computers and Office Administration
• Early Childhood Development
• Forklift driving
• Garment making
• Home-based Care
• Hospitality Services
Skills Development Centre Edendale (situated on a farm
of 830 hectares close to Mamelodi)
Two skills are currently presented at this centre:
• Painting – in partnership with the Prominent
Paints Group.
• Plumbing – in partnership with Dawn Limited.
The intention is to establish a training centre here which
will cater for skills training in the building trade.
POPUP has the capacity to train more than 700 students
per year at present. We realise the need for placing
students in jobs and as a result we have partnered with
a recruitment agency to assist in this regard. As part of
this partnership we have the services of a consultant on
site. We have placed 913 people in jobs, both temporary
and permanent, over the last year. We are excited about
this achievement as it means we have been able to find
employment for students from previous years as well.
Impact
• A significant number of our learners make a first
time commitment to Christ
• Our learners experience inner healing and
restoration
• The majority of our learners have found
employment
Investment opportunities
• Funding a skills programme
• Capital investment in the establishment or
upgrading of facilities.
• Investment in our ABET programme – it is
critical for us to empower people who have
been deprived of opportunities to literacy and
therefore hope of a better future.
SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT
[Welfare/Healthcare/Poverty Alleviation/BEE SED/Tax]
People in our country are often suffering on an unimaginable
scale. We felt compelled to move from concern to
compassion and alleviate the plight of this section of our
community. We have taken the initiative to reach out to
address several areas of need:
MEDICAL SUPPORT
Medical Unit – Salvokop
A full time nurse provides primary healthcare as
well as advice on basic healthcare issues. Services
and medicines are provided free of charge.
Dental unit – Salvokop
POPUP in partnership with the Dental Department
at MEDUNSA provides free dental care to
our students and the community.
Eye Care unit – Salvokop
Volunteer optometrists supply a subsidised
service to the community. Patients are screened
before an eye test is performed and, if needed,
glasses are provided at very low cost.
because of the scourge of this disease. We have
partnered with various community based organisations
to serve in the education and prevention in this challenge
facing our nation.
• University of Pretoria – Doxa Deo has partnered
with Reaching a Generation (RAG) and Hope
the development of a project, Beacons of Mercy,
which will provide day care centres where care
will be given to AIDS orphans. These day care
centres will also provide education and counselling.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT – METAMORPHO
[Leadership/Discipleship]
Metamorpho is a year of your life programme started in
1998. Young people are assisted to establish their life
mission and approach life with a Christian worldview. As
part of this they are equipped with leadership principles
to ensure that they are enabled to make a difference in
the world. As part of the programme they stay in families,
a group of students in a house, for the duration of the
programme which contributes toward teambuilding and
healthy social interaction. Areas of empowerment include
character development, conflict management, developing
potential and many others.
NEW OPPORTUNITIES
[Skills Development/ECD/Poverty Alleviation/ABET/BEE
SED/BEE ED/Tax]
POPUP has been approached by the Department of Education
in North West to establish a skills training centre at the
Mmakau centre in Garankuwa. We are currently investigating
possibilities and will in all likelihood present some of
the skills courses currently presented at the Salvokop centre.
The Mmakau centre also operates a pre-school which
could form part of the PopKids programme.
Doxa Deo approached the Apostolic Faith Mission with
a view to take responsibility for a training centre in
Soshanguve. The centre consists of a significant number
of buildings where skills training and other products of
upliftment to that community could be presented. The
facility could be used to serve the community in a number
of areas.
Possibilities at this site include:
• Skills training for the building industry such as
bricklaying, tiling, electrician, plumbing, glazing
and carpentry.
• ABET assessment and training
• Life Skills training
• Skills training in Computer and Office Administration,
and Early Childhood Development.
THE 12 CITIES VISION
Doxa Deo believes we have a mandate to establish God’s
reign in twelve cities. We have a holistic approach to how
we engage a community. We believe that we need to be
relevant to our communities and as such we will establish
ministries and projects aimed at serving the community
within which we function.
CHURCH BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
– Erecting tents and buildings, hospices and day care
centres; (over 30 tents, two 300 seater churches in
Olievenhoutbosch and Nellmapius, various day care
centres in rural areas erected during the last 3 years).
– Building of new facilities to house the expansion of the
Doxa Deo campuses.
EVANGELISM
– Prison outreaches: many of the Doxa Deo campuses
are involved in outreaches to people in prisons. Members
are mobilised to get involved and reach out to
inmates
– Short term outreaches: members of Doxa Deo are
often involved in outreaches where they reach out
to communities in South Africa and Southern African
countries. As part of these outreaches they get involved
in various facets of community building.
