How YOU Can Avoid Disqualification!
1. Know your average!
A. Keep a copy of ALL league standing sheets as of January 1 st and after the final
week of the season.
B. Keep a copy of your bowl.com averages.
VERIFY that the bowl.com average matches the standing sheet from the final
week of the season.
2. Know what average the tournament is using!
A. Read the tournament rules to see if they are using the average from the “current”
season or “last year’s” average.
3. Know what average the squad leader used.
A. Ask for and get a copy of all tournament applications to make sure that the correct
average is listed.
4. Verify the average on the form used to capture your tournament scores.
A. Do not start bowling until you verify that your average is correct on ALL forms
used by the tournament.
B. Make sure your doubles partner and/or team mates also check their averages.
— If a correction is needed to any of these averages make sure a tournament representative
makes the correction. If they refuse, ask to speak to the director or
house manager. DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER and DO NOT WAIT UNTIL
YOU HAVE COMPLETED BOWLING TO GET THE CORRECTION MADE.
5. If you are a first year bowler, take a copy of your final standing sheet and contact information
for your league President and Secretary.
6. Keep written records of ALL tournament scores and any winnings!
A. USBC rule 319d states:
Anyone who has qualified for cash and/or merchandise prize of $600 or more in a position standings
prize list in any event in a tournament, including all-events, special features, special prizes and
donated prizes within the last 12 month period, must give tournament management the following
information prior to participation, for possible average adjustment:
— The name of each tournament in which they have been paid such a prize, or if not yet paid, in
which they have qualified for the prize.
— The amount of the prize
— The actual score bowled to qualify for the prize.
— The prize position
Failure to comply with these provisions is cause for a forfeiture of entry fees and prize
winnings.
** This rule applies even if the prize is from a non-certified tournament
** Even SCRATCH bowlers MUST comply with this rule
B. We suggest that you supply scores from EVERY tournament you bowled in the
past 12 months, not just the ones in which a cash award was received so that they
can have a more complete view of you as a tournament bowler.
7. If you receive a disqualification letter, consult your local TNBA Senate or USBC Association
for assistance.

Why TNBA?
This is what I hear most often from people that are NOT TNBA members and those TNBA
members that have or wish to join a league that REQUIRES TNBA membership. I think there
are many good answers to this question and I will try to give you a few.
1) From 1895 when ABC (now known as USBC) was formed, their constitution limited
membership to Caucasians only. In 1939 TNBA was organized to give all people of color the
opportunity to participate in organized bowling.
2) In 1951, shortly after the integration of baseball, the founders of TNBA, in collaboration
with labor unions and other civil rights organizations finally convinced A.B.C and W.I.B.C
to allow people of all colors to join their organizations.
3) As a TNBA member you are eligible to receive additional and attractive awards for all honor
scores bowled in a TNBA Certified League or Tournament. There are also a set of awards
available for lower average bowlers.
4) As a TNBA member you are eligible to bowl in several local, regional, and national
tournaments in which participation is exclusively for AMATEUR bowlers!
5) As a TNBA member you are encouraged to participate in the governance of your local and
national organization. All rules are established and/or changed by TNBA members at the
annual convention held during the National Tournament.
6) As a TNBA member your children and grandchildren are eligible and strongly encouraged
to apply for a share of $10,000.00 of scholarships from the National Organization, $1000.00
of scholarship funds from the Regional Organization, and $1,000.00 of scholarship funds
from the Local Organization (Application deadline is March 10, 2011.
7) TNBA Junior league members are eligible to participate in a variety of tournaments from
which scholarship funds may be awarded.
8) TNBA Junior league members are eligible to join the Junior Council that was established to
educate, train and encourage our youth to become aware and involved in the operation of
their Senate and TNBA.
9) TNBA Junior league members are eligible to apply for an intensive multiple-day training
opportunity at the International Training Center in Arlington Texas. (Application deadline
is March 1, 2011.
10) Every TNBA member is a part of an organization that has a rich history committed to the
principles of Sportsmanship, Fellowship, and Friendship.

To qualify for TNBA Awards you must have a TNBA card for the
current season AND your league MUST be TNBA Certified. If you have a
current TNBA card and your league IS NOT TNBA certified your request for an award from
TNBA WILL NOT be honored. The cost to certify your league is $5.00. Every bowler in the league DOES
NOT have to be a TNBA member. Application for League Certification can be found on the Chicago Bowling
Senate or TNBA websites. The following leagues have been certified through the Chicago Bowling
Senate:
