Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce myself? My name is Roman Retzbach and I am a future and trend<br />
researcher. For the past 15 years I have been working for the internationally operating <strong>Future</strong>-Institute that was<br />
founded in 1920. I search both for short term trends for the coming months with the help of trend scouts in America,<br />

My associates and me deal with the same questions as everybody else: we are all<br />
looking for a meaning – where do we come from, what is our purpose in life, what<br />
direction are we heading and of course all this comes to nothing else than - the<br />
meaning of life.<br />
In a small and modest way, future and trend research can start to answer some of<br />
these questions. Up to the present day dozens of instruments and means for this<br />
research have been developed and are in constant use.<br />
<strong>Future</strong> scenarios are created in a x-multidimensional space model. One of the many<br />
axes in this model is for example the expert interviews (“Delphi”) with people all over<br />
the world and the use of supercomputers as the ultimate opposite.<br />

Of course there are an infinite number of future scenarios as well as very human and<br />
limiting future filters. Some of them show basic human needs such as security, convenience, supply, health,<br />
communication, wellness and leisure as well as luxury and Anthropology of the “secondary animal” - these supply<br />
both orientation and limitations. <strong>Future</strong> options are further influenced by mankind as such. Humans have been<br />
making the same mistakes over and over again throughout centuries of history – waging wars and searching for<br />
peace ever since they appeared on the cosmic stage of evolution.<br />
Further axes are the very long term form of future trend research - looking ahead for thousands of years, and very<br />
short term consumer trend developments which lead to ever more big-, macro-, and shifting trends. Not to be<br />
underestimated is the impact of the entertainment industry and cyber worlds that continue to bring us a virtual<br />
reality future by trying to present and sell it in an overwhelming 3D fashion.<br />
Another of the many future laws in this model of our future is the individual time frame from which these outlooks,<br />
visions, utopias and timelines are formulated. 70% of all future scenarios are extended from the present into the<br />
future coining the phrase “forwarding”, 20% are contributed by experts and market research from every area of<br />
social, economical and scientific life, leading to forecasts and foresights, but not even 10% are made up of real<br />
futurings. This futuring is almost completely made up of science fiction, phantasy and fortune telling. Gaming and<br />
entertainment, conspiracy theories, matrix visions and deja vues are also a part and all of these are strongly<br />
influenced by certain genres and often have a military hierarchy in their future scenarios. What is interesting is that<br />
this kind of research is neutrally funded by the military in the United States, by the governments in Europe and the<br />
technology and entertainment industry in Asia.<br />
One example for a “fabricated” future and a “wonderful new world” are statistics as well as scenarios that try to<br />
avoid any kind of panic by stating that the stagnation of world population at 12 to 15 billion within the next 70 years<br />
as well as a constantly growing economy is a comforting outlook. At the same time however different future<br />
scenarios are bought or created in an industrial countermovement concerning climate change, world hunger,<br />
change of magnetic poles, sun storms, dwindling nature, water shortage, aging societies, the widening gap<br />
between rich and poor, a destruction of supply networks, terrorism, China as the new super power as well as India,<br />
Brasil and Russia in their function as world BRIC supermarkets…<br />
All these may be real but at the same time very limited current perspectives and mere reactions. Not one of them a<br />
possible solution for an improvement of our future. In short: the future is stopped by the present.<br />
However, cosmological evolution and future research don´t know any such limitations of any kind. A world<br />
population of 20 billion, problems that will only arise tomorrow but could be met today, these are all being made by<br />
humans themselves and are perceived as an inevitable future. And if we look at the world today, we find that anti<br />
trend is stronger than the official mainstream and pop trend. Also simultaneous as well as extreme polarization of<br />
the most diverse trend developments are becoming increasingly automated and today there no longer is one<br />
future ahead, but many different future realities next to each other - even in the same<br />
place,<br />

the same city, on the same – our planet earth.<br />
There is one historical fact we know for sure. Namely that the future has always been<br />
different than people could imagine in their time. How else could we have come so<br />
far but evolve so little. To put it short: There no longer is a difference between a glass<br />
that is half empty and a glass that is half full – because both states exist at the same<br />
time.<br />
These are some of the cosmic laws that will help your understanding of future trend<br />

1. Law of the cosmos: All that mankind can think of, will become real. Good as<br />
well as bad, both real and virtual: for example, virus epidemics, catastrophes<br />
and new wars. But reality also has parallel universes and meta dimensions in<br />
which futures can constantly change. Science fiction today is a warning as<br />
well as a mirror of times to come.<br />

fact, will he reach the first step of evolution. Until then we remain at the<br />

generation in evolution. Man will someday look like the aliens he himself created in his future scenario. Just<br />
as everybody is related to every person just through three other people, we are all connected to every<br />
lifeform in the galaxy.<br />
9. Law of the cosmos: All life forms strive into the infinite space, back to where life began, where we came<br />
from. This future is our goal and this goal is our future.<br />
Earth is only a temporary home for our kind. A nesting and birthing place – but we really are at the edge of space<br />
age.<br />
Life began in space and it will also end there. Everything that humans can imagine about infinity can be realized<br />
and materialized. The universe can be a finite confining ball that reflects reality and multiplies like a mirror – making<br />
a planetary system of one star and millions of lives from just one.<br />
But what lies behind all this? Even a vacuum or black energy in constant change and balancing with black mass,<br />
form existences and states of reality with nothingness itself becoming an anti form of being.<br />
<strong>Future</strong> trend research is the most complex and doubted science in the world, combining all human events and<br />
achievements. But behind all the empirical and precognitive aspects it follows high ideals. These are the laws of the<br />
cosmos. These are the rules by which future trend research plays. They state, that everything - be it good or bad,<br />
every abstract phantasies and possible apocalypses can come true one day, or are on their way to becoming true<br />
as we speak. Humans, in their rise and transcendental state in between nature, culture and spirituality – trend<br />
naming individuality and democratic ideals, do nothing else than follow their cosmic evolutionary code.<br />
This states quite plainly that everything is possible. Everything you have ever heard, seen or thought of is true - either<br />
here on earth or somewhere in parallel universes on other planets and in other galaxies.<br />
<strong>Future</strong> trend research seen from this perspective does nothing else but measure the probabilities and spirit of the<br />
present times in order to find out when any of these infinite number of possibilities might materialize, or else they are<br />
not desired by humanity as a whole and therefore suppressed, changed or nullified. In this sense the whole of<br />
humanity functions as one super intelligence (higher evolved as sponge or collective models) but at the same time<br />
on a level that cannot be perceived or remembered by any individual. On this highest level of intelligence, all<br />
humans strive for the same goals or dreams. They are on a search for peace, a way of living together and<br />
construction instead of destruction. At least that is the master plan. Seen from a cosmic point of view, humanity as a<br />
whole is a primitive race still in its first evolutionary stage long before space migration.<br />
The mega trends in this case are the orientation and the actual path to this cosmological understanding and ways<br />
to measure or control what has been achieved and what still needs to be realized. The last century was a social<br />

and pre technological one, this century we have finally reached the technological<br />
age. By means of technology in the past, progress through machines, cars and ever<br />
changing energies as well as unlimited electricity and cultural as well as social<br />
improvement was made possible – but all this was only a necessary first step to<br />
approach higher technologies.<br />
Technological jumps, meaning new makro megatrends trigger sociological changes<br />
or shifts and also wealth and new insights.<br />
Super technologies as well as megatrends have multiple dimensions. On the one<br />
hand every technology serves as a means for advance and at the same time is a<br />
weapon of its own destruction. On the other hand it can never become flawless, not<br />
even in the highest order because its creator is not flawless and never will be. On top<br />
of that, new technologies mostly are an empty promise and only become useful at a<br />
later stage. This is why the achievements of bio-tech, namely immortality and antiaging<br />
switching from youth fountain to being fit in old age, as well as nano-tech<br />
which will lead to the possibility of producing and recycling any given product – also<br />
artificial intelligence that doesn´t really exist today and solar/quant-tech as cold<br />
fusion for free and unlimited power are praised too high and too loud, too soon.<br />

<strong>Future</strong> trend research has the function and the responsibility to acknow ledge that the future comes later and<br />
different than predicted, even from these researchers themselves.<br />
But without a masterplan and without the necessary technologies, we will not be able to solve the nostradamic<br />
catastrophes of the future. These are mainly the revival of nature, the vanquish of big brother like political systems<br />
and also to come: protection from meteorites, full scale war against global super viruses, huge volcanoes, nuclear<br />
war, cosmic super gamma neutron rays and the creation of black holes through super fusion energy…<br />
The future trend research has something like a so-called “world formula” by which all future events can be<br />
predicted and estimated accordingly.<br />
This world or age old formula with the future- and tech formula is similar to the universal formula of all energy forms.<br />
Of all the infinite possibilities, only a small number are active within a certain timeframe and are perceived and<br />
desired by humanity. This is where we come full circle.<br />
The Zeitgeist of humanity already contains a certain future which is being followed and supported by future<br />
researchers and the entertainment industry. This scenario includes a 24 hour society, a united world, an autonomous<br />
robot civilization, immortality for humans and cloning of everybody and everything, including animals, food, organs<br />
and humans. Every civilization adapts its ethical and moral standards every 100 years or so. Even technologies are<br />
mostly only embraced in their 2 nd or 3 rd generations. And of course space travel and the ensuing contact and life<br />
with aliens of all colours, sizes, languages and living surroundings. The enormous number of evolutionary life forms on<br />
earth is just a miniature model of the possibilities in the whole universe.<br />
Space travel and extraterrestrial contacts without doubt will be the next big step for mankind. Settling in the vast<br />
galaxies will begin, new colonies will be created, spaceships carrying whole generations will spread throughout<br />
space. And even now this cosmic call from the future is influencing the present day, forming a new goal and<br />
influencing what technologies are aiming at.<br />
Modern future trend technology today and tomorrow looks further and further into the future and is therefore able<br />
to make increasingly accurate predictions, including the ups and downs of events. Wildcards – meaning<br />
unforeseen events - as well as coincidences are becoming very rare in the ever improving future trend research. In<br />
principle, the predictability of future events improves when one always takes into account that anything is possible<br />
at any time.<br />

“The question is no longer what is going to happen in future… when it will happen is<br />
becoming the more interesting question…”<br />
Human society is merely influencing the speed or deceleration of the future to come,<br />
but it cannot stop it in any way. Continuing retro movements and active delays can<br />
last from 10 to 15 years, but that is about the longest that future lets itself be held<br />
back.<br />
How we are going to live, work and travel in future as well as the survival of our<br />
civilization can best be answered by the future trend research with its knowledge of<br />
cosmological evolution and technological megatrends.<br />
“Everything that man has ever imagined has come true or is in the making.”<br />
Everything that man has imagined up to now – a horror in history, today can be seen<br />
as infotainment ranging from news to documentations, and tomorrow as visions and<br />

Everything that man can imagine will become true – today as science fiction and tomorrow as an implicitness.<br />
Everything that man can imagine will become future reality – either in real life or at least in the shadow world of<br />
virtual reality in form of horror, thriller, drama or a fairy tale all in one.<br />
Everything that we imagine is already in the past. Everything that we can dream of can become true. Everything<br />
we think of will become true, if we like it or not – sooner or later.<br />
What today still is “new technology” such as teleportation, levitation, telepathy, stargates and beaming will be<br />
known as the “old traditional sciences” in 100 years time.<br />
Looking at it this way, films like star wars are a nice introduction and popular entertainment, but sadly too militaristic<br />
– to think about the future in order to meet it accordingly.<br />
Most people on earth today already believe in a future with space travel, alien contacts, “hitchhiking through the<br />
galaxy” and black holes leading to more galaxies…<br />
